As perhaps the most violent and explosive of the “NCIS” franchise shows, “NCIS: Los Angeles” still finds time for romance and family in between the crime and horror.
When it comes to stable relationships, “NCIS: Los Angeles” may even have all the other spin-offs and even the mothership show beat. This is because fan-favorites Kensi (Daniela Ruah) and Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) exist in the world of L.A. crime together.
The couple is incredibly stable, or as stable as you can be with the constant threat of death hanging over their heads. They are married and currently trying to have a baby as well.
‘NCIS: Los Angeles’ Couple Hoping for a Baby
Sadly, the couple is having a very hard time getting pregnant. Kensi is taking fertility drugs to try to help her get pregnant. However, she, and even some “NCIS” fans, are starting to feel like she may never have a baby.
In an episode from season 12 called “Imposter Syndrome,” the two share a moment at home in a room that would be the future nursery.
“I know we had plans for tonight, but I thought we could toss those plans aside, pick out a color, and paint the remaining room in the house, the nursery,” Deeks, or Eric Christian Olsen, said.
She’s hesitant to call it the nursery and isn’t really ready to paint or feel excited. So, the question is, can Kensi ever pick out a color and start to get excited about the prospect of a growing family?
Will Deek and Kensi Have a Baby?
Recently, “NCIS: Los Angeles” has introduced the idea of the couple adopting instead of having a biological child. According to an article from TV Insider, the show was “wise” to bring up this possibility this last season. Bringing a child into a show filled with death and violence comes with a lot of responsibility, both for the characters on the show as well as the writers trying to figure it all out.
“That’s been a big dilemma for us as writers, because you don’t want to do something that makes your characters look negligent. Would it be a wise decision to have a child when both of you are putting your lives in jeopardy every day? That’s a legitimate concern for the two of them, and something that we will have to explore as we move forward. Whether Kensi is able to get pregnant or whether it’s going to be an adoption, that’s a tricky one because you want them to be happy, but you also don’t want them to look irresponsible,” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill said.
According to Digital Spy, besides possibly a new child, the show may be getting new arrivals for season 13. After all, the show did say goodbye to Barrett Foa and Renée Felice Smith’s characters. This means they may need to fill in for a tech consultant and an intelligence agent.
As for an “NCIS: Los Angeles” baby or toddler joining the cast, only time and another season will tell.
