‘NCIS: New Orleans’ Star Lands New Role after CBS Cancellation

Karen Obilom, who once took on the role of Zaire Dupre in the action crime drama NCIS: New Orleans, is set to star in the highly anticipated House Party remake. 

According to Variety, the NCIS alum has signed on to play the female lead in the remake and joins Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Tosin Cole, and DC You Fly. NBL superstar LeBron James, along with Maverick Carter are producing and Atlanta duo Stephen Glover and Jamal Olori are writing the script  Sharing her excitement for the new role, Obilom writes on Instagram, “This is a formal invitation for you all to join me in crying tears of joy. YOU GUYS! It’s moments like these that make it all worth it. God, I thank you. Venus in the House!”

Aside from NCIS, Obilom had roles in Doom Patrol, Insecure, and Games People Play. 

NCIS: New Orleans Ends After Seven Seasons 

Last month, NCIS: New Orleans came to an end after seven seasons and more than 150 episodes. The show premiered in 2014 and stars Scott Bakula, Robert Kerkovich, CCH Pounder, Daryl Mitchell, and Lucas Black. 

According to IMDB, NCIS: New Orleans follows an NCIS team that investigates criminal cases involving military personnel in The Big Easy, which is a city that is known for its music entertainment, and decadence. The team is led by Special Agent Dwayne Pride, a.k.a. “King.” 

As previously reported, in the NCIS: New Orleans finale, Special Agent Dwayne Pride marries Rita Devereaux while Dr. Loretta Wade acts as the officiant. His team, which includes Tammy Gregorio, Hannah Khoury, Sebastian Lund, Patton Plame, and Quentin Carter, are all in attendance for the small ceremony.

NCIS: New Orleans executive producers, Jan Nash and Christopher Silber, also discuss the show’s finale with TV Insider, “We would’ve probably ended with a bit of a cliffhanger or at least an open-ended idea that there is more trouble to come for our characters.”

What’s Next For The NCIS Franchise?

With NCIS: New Orleans ending, CBS has announced the next spin-off of the NCIS franchise, NCIS: Hawai’i. The new series features the first female Special Agent in charge of NCIS Pearl Harbor, Jane Tennant. Vanessa Lachey is playing the role of Tennant and her team will investigate high-stake crimes with military personnel. In addition to the national security and mysteries of the island state itself. This is the first NCIS series to have a female lead.

Noah Mills, Jason Antoon, Yasmine Al-Bustami, and Tori Anderson are starring alongside Lachey in the third NCIS spin-off. The new spinoff is airing Monday nights on CBS. The show will also be available on Paramount+.
