Lucas Black is best known for his long stint on “NCIS: New Orleans” as well as his role in the “Fast and Furious” franchise more recently. The actor has racked up an impressing list of credits in both film and TV. Other places you may recognize his name include: The X-Files, Friday Night Lights, and Legion.
Black never shied away from two things throughout his career: the outdoors and his faith. Raised as a Southern Baptist in Alabama, these things were always an integral piece of Lucas Black’s identity. They are also what gives him strength during the more challenging times. Black recently took to Instagram to share a lengthy post about faith in the wake of Hurricane Ida with his 167k followers. The snap shows a stunning rainbow juxtaposed against an intimidating-looking sky. In the caption, Black describes the rainbow as a sign from above to keep moving forward, connect, and help each other. The comments are filled with a resounding chorus of “Amen!”

Lucas Black and The Great Outdoors
As mentioned above, Black is an outdoorsman. After leaving the “NCIS” series and between filming for the “Fast and Furious” series, Black significantly lessened his acting load to spend more time with his family. Black shares two children, Sophie Jo and Augusta, with wife Maggie. Between wrangling (baby) alligators and cooking together, Black also enjoys teaching his son about fishing and marksmanship. Unbeknownst to a lot of fans, Black actually launched an outdoorsy YouTube channel a while back aptly called “Real Life Lucas Black.”
In the most recent video, posted August 13th, Black takes fans along his hunting trip with his son. The video opens with Black revealing their location as somewhere along the Mississippi River Bottom. The video also details the Black duo’s minimal gear and crossbows as they set out on a mission to hunt an invasive species: feral hogs. Lucas captions the video as “Time in the woods hunting with your son is time well spent.” Nearing 3000 views and 300 likes, fans can’t get enough of the father-son bonding.

Like Father Like Son
Lucas Black really prioritizes bonding time with his son. He’s making it a point to pass down a plethora of useful skills to the youngin’ like hunting, fishing, and navigating. What’s more, Black is also passing down a strong set of morals and work ethic. But who taught Lucas these things? Black actually credits his very own father. Working as a museum employee throughout Black’s childhood, his father was always a very hard worker. He told CBS those are just some of the reasons he considers his dad one of his greatest mentors. We’d say he’s probably doing his dad proud and shaping up to be quite the dad himself.
