“NCIS” is saying goodbye to one of their own. One of the show’s stars had to make a difficult decision during last night’s (March 2) episode. Mario Bello and her character Dr. Jacqueline “Jack” Sloane made their exit and final regular appearance on the show.

Bello had starred on “NCIS” for three seasons but decided to call it quits during the emotionally charged episode. On Instagram, Bello thanked the cast and crew of the show and considered the past three seasons to be a learning experience for her.

She wrote, “And that’s a wrap for Jack Sloane @ncis_cbs !!! I’ve learned many things on this journey for the last three and a half years. I learned about commitment and community. I’ve learned that the woman I am enjoys process over product. I’ve never worked with a kinder, more generous group of people.”

‘NCIS’ Says Goodbye to Sloane

During the episode, Bello’s Sloane had to make a difficult choice between staying with NCIS and retiring to Costa Rica. This choice was put to the forefront when the character had to save a group of kidnapped girls. Also affecting, Sloan’s choice was her attraction to Leroy Jethro Gibbs.

Ultimately, Sloane decided neither choice. But she chose to stay with the girls in a town in Afghanistan. Sloane and Gibbs shared a passionate goodbye kiss as the two parted ways for good. Behind the scenes, Bello thanked all of her “NCIS” family for her time on the show.

On Instagram, she continued, “I only had the privilege of standing by Dom’s side during cancer because my producers worked so hard to make sure I was there for every treatment. I made a speech today for our crew. Though in our business, like many, there are quite a few assholes – there is not one on the set of NCIS – in front of or behind the camera. Only a profoundly decent group of people who care more about each other and the world in general than what is in it for them. I understand why this show after 18 years is the most-watched in the world – you must all feel our love. Keep watching. I have a feeling there will be many more years to come. Thank you to all of my pals at NCIS and to all of our fans. I am truly grateful.”
