‘NCIS’ Star Sean Murray Discussed Appearing in the Hocus Pocus Sequel

It’s been quite a few years since we first started hearing rumors about a “Hocus Pocus” sequel. And we were really, really glad to hear that all of that magical buzz was not just a bunch of well…hocus pocus! So far we know the original witches are down to return. But what about the other players, including “NCIS” star Sean Murray?

“If they wanted me to be involved with it in some sort of way, I would probably say yes,” Murray said a few years ago during an E! Online interview. The “NCIS” actor added that the 1993 cult classic was a big part of his youth.

“‘Hocus Pocus’ has a great following and was a great part of when I was a kid,” the actor said.

A Long Awaited Sequel

While rumors of a sequel to the hit movie have been swirling for years, the sequel was officially announced this spring.

On May 20, 2021, one of the film’s stars, Bette Midler tweeted about the upcoming project.

“Sistaaaahs! It’s been 300 years… But we’re BACK!” the Hollywood icon wrote on the post. “#HocusPocus2 arrives Fall 2022 on @DisneyPlus.”

This post was something fans have been waiting for since the first movie broke box-office records nearly thirty years ago.

“NCIS” Star Sean Still Has Fans of “Hocus Pocus” Role

“It’s popular,” Murray has said of the Disney hit.

“I have kids come to me and their parents grew up on it and now their kids grow up on it,” the star added. “It’s like a cult favorite.”

Most recently, Murray talked with Entertainment tonight regarding the possibility that he would return to the Disney hit now that the sequel has been announced.

“It depends,” the NCIS told the outlet when asked if he would take a role in the new film.

“It has to be something clever,” Murray added. “I will do a cameo!”

“Hocus Pocus” Full of Magical Laughs

The hit movie was about a trio of witches, the Sanders sisters, who have been cursed. The witches are inadvertently resurrected. The trio wreaks havoc on modern-day Salem with some scary, and funny, consequences.

Murray portrayed Thackery Binx a boy who was turned into a cat by the Sanders sisters after he mocks the trio’s wish to become “young and beautiful.” The character is portrayed as the cat during much of the film’s run.

In 2019 Disney announced filming for the follow-up film would soon begin with the hopes that the original stars, Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy would return. Many other characters will be reprising their famous roles as well. “Hocus Pocus 2” will debut on Disney Plus sometime in 2022.
