He recently joined CBS’ longtime running hit series NCIS, and now Gary Cole is revealing his thoughts about his character, FBI Special Agent Alden Parker.

During his recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the NCIS cast member gave a simple description of what he thinks his character is. “Well, he’s punctual.”

Meanwhile, NCIS showrunner, Steven D. Binder, recently took to Twitter to speak out about Cole’s character slowly making his way to replace Gibbs. While addressing the accusations that CBS lied about Cole’s character involvement in the series, Binder tweeted, “I personally, would not presume to think Gibbs recommended Park *over* McGee.”

The NCIS showrunner also observed, “I would like to think Gibbs and McGee had plenty of time to talk about the future and what McGee told Torres on the stake-out. Gibbs already knew.”

But NCIS fans were not done with Binder quite yet. Another fan tweeted, “Sorry Steven, when did they talk between Gibbs telling McGee he was not going back and McGee on the plane? + you indeed lied to us about the “non” replacement. Not cool. Also, this “approval” is just to make people accept Parker.”

Binder responded with, “M&G spoke any time these past months as it became obvious Gibbs wasn’t going back to NCIS. Yes, G surprised M he was staying in Alaska. That’s a different subject. Parker lost his job to protect Gibbs. How does G not approve? And he IS irreplaceable. At least that’s how we see it.”

Mark Harmon Previously Spoke About How Long He’d Stay on ‘NCIS’

During a 2019 interview with People, Mark Harmon opened up about how long he was planning to stay on NCIS  as Gibbs. “I’ve always thought if there’s ever a time where the writers are walking into the and going, ‘I don’t know what to do,’ then I think we all have to look at each other and call it a day.”

But Harmon reassured the media outlet at the time that the NCIS crew was not at that point quite yet. “We’re doing better ratings this year than last. Which for a show of this age is sort of remarkable.”

In regards to watching some actors grow restless over the years at the same job, Harmon noted that he is nothing but grateful for his NCIS role. “I’ve been around long enough to know what this is. That commitment is part of what I signed up for. I know when this show ends that’s it. There won’t be anything else like this for me.”

Harmon then added that he knows nothing goes on forever. “But you’ve got to respect what this show is doing. 16 years in and how’s doing it. And the people who are there punching in everything morning and building what it is. There’s a tremendous about of pride there. So I see no reason to leave.”
