In January, NCIS star Wilmer Valderrama revealed that he isn’t a fan of repetitive storylines on the hit action drama series.

The NCIS actor opened up to ET Canada about returning to set at the end of last year. Valderrama shared how excited he was to get back to filming following a pause during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also revealed what fans of the show can expect in Season 18 and from his character Nick Torres.

However, one thing Valderrama is very aware of is keeping the scripts fresh. The actor talked about the importance of not repeating storylines and instead creating something that’s different for viewers.

“I keep saying this, and I feel like I sound like a broken record when I say this. The last thing I want to do is something the show has seen before. I don’t want to do a storyline that the show has done before,” Valderrama said to ET Canada.

“I’m all for giving the audience what they want,” the NCIS star added. “But it’s important to me that we do something that is different. When you look at two characters that aren’t good at relationships, and you want them together. You’re rooting for them to be each other’s salvation.”

“I think we’re definitely going to explore the relationships, we’re going to figure out where it goes. And we’re going to find a really fun, unique way to introduce it. Again, these are troubled souls, these troubled individuals that have to do so many things to – just to do their jobs. I think that’s going to play a factor where they go from here,” he concluded.

‘NCIS’ Star Wilmer Valderrama Reveals Favorite Scenes To Film

A couple of months prior to his interview with ET CanadaNCIS actor Wilmer Valderrama took questions from fans about the show. He opened up about the hit show during an Instagram Live session that marked NCIS‘s 400th Episode.

Valderrama and his co-star Emily Wickersham came together to speak about the show’s milestone episode. The two actors sifted through tons of questions from Instagram users and answered a handful of them. One Instagram user tuning in to their chat asked Valderrama about his favorite episodes he’s filmed.

The actor responded by saying there are many great episodes, so he couldn’t pinpoint only one. Yet Valderrama did highlight episodes that are shot with the whole cast together. He says he especially likes it when everyone is involved with the filming process. Additionally, Valderrama shared what scenes are his favorite to shoot, which all revolve around NCIS‘s action scenes.

“Anything that has to do with action, that’s my favorite thing,” Valderrama explained. “Like when we blew up that garage, and I could smell my hair burning off my face, yea that was good times. Every time I chase somebody and try not to pull a hamstring, that’s definitely a favorite episode of mine.”
