Streaming giant Netflix has just confirmed on Twitter that a whole lot more Jeopardy! is headed our way come this December!
After the tragic passing of host Alex Trebek, fans are more eager than ever to have access to the Jeopardy! catalogues. Thanks to Netflix, that wait will soon be over.
While many episodes of the classic gameshow are already available on the platform, much, much more is headed our way.
According to their own schedule, Netflix is set to release 5 more seasons of “America’s gameshow.” Those seasons are:
- Jeopardy! Chamption Run V
- Jeopardy! Champion Run VI
- Jeopardy! Teacher’s Tournament
- Jeopardy! College Championship
- Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions
Viewers can expect the new tournaments to drop in December.
Who Will Be the Next Jeopardy Host?
Trebek announced earlier this year that he was battling pancreatic cancer. While initially optimistic, On November 8th, he tragically lost his battle with the disease at age 80.
“I’m not afraid of dying,” Trebek told CTV News in an interview prior to his passing. “I’ve lived a good life, a full life, and I’m nearing the end of that life … if it happens, why should I be afraid of that? One thing they’re not going to say at my funeral, as a part of a eulogy, is ‘He was taken from us too soon.’”
Trebek hosted the show for its entire run, since the syndication of its current form began in 1984.
Now, as fans and celebrities alike celebrate his life, others are wondering who will take over as Trebek’s successor.
For now, Jeopardy’s own champion, Ken Jennings is to become “interim guest host” as the show returns to air. An official statement on Twitter reveals that the show “will resume production on 11/30 with a series of interim guest hosts from the family – starting with Ken Jennings. Additional guest hosts to be announced.”
Jeopardy! returns to television with live episodes on November 30th.
