WATCH: Netflix Unveils Trailer for ‘Hillbilly Elegy’

The trailer for the highly anticipated Ron Howard film “Hillbilly Elegy,” is making the rounds to the delight of movie fans.

Netflix released the trailer on Wednesday.

The film stars Amy Adams and Glenn Close in roles critics say could earn them prestigious award consideration. Both Adams and Close have previously garnered Academy Award nominations.

The film depicts a family in crisis in southern Ohio. Further, the family’s problematic turmoil is a result of addictions, abuse and poverty.

Playing “Mawmaw,” the trailer opens on Close having an emotional conversation with her Grandson J.D. Vance, played by Owen Asztalos. Conversely, Gabriel Basso plays the older version on J.D. as he studies law at Yale University.

“I thought your mama was going to be alright,” Mawmaw says in the trailer. “I know I could have done better but you have to decide if you want to be somebody or not.”

Adams plays J.D.’s mother, Bev, who is struggling with addiction after becoming a mother as a teenager. The clip is two and a half minutes long and depicts numerous intense confrontations between the three main characters.

“Oh you know me-I always land on my feet,” Bev tells J.D.

The movie is based on the best-selling book of the same name by J.D. Vance, which came out in the summer of 2016. Netflix reportedly paid $45 million for the movie’s distribution rights.

It was shot in three Georgia locations including Atlanta, Macon and Clayton. It is set to appear on Netflix on November 24.
