Considering they were broken up for two decades, Guns N’ Roses have stunned fans in recent years. In 2016, the original members finally put their differences behind them and reunited to tour together. Even more surprising, the legendary rockers released two new songs in 2021. After multiple successful world tours and releasing new material, guitarist Slash recently confirmed that a full album is now in the works.

While speaking to Classic Rock magazine recently, Slash opened up about Guns N’ Roses reuniting in 2016. The iconic guitarist said he “didn’t really have any expectations” about their reunion.

“When we got together, Axl [Rose] and I really got over this major sort of hump of negativity that we’ve been carrying around for years and years,” Slash recalled. “It was a real simple, relatively short conversation that we had… In all these years that we’ve been apart, he’s become super professional. And he’s never missed a beat during this whole time. So it’s been great. There has been a sort of synergy that’s been happening this last six years that we never had in our first incarnation.”

That synergy has led to much more than any of the band members could’ve expected when they first reunited. In fact, Guns N’ Roses fans will be excited to hear that the band is back in the studio together working on a new album.

“There’s new Guns material coming out as we speak. And we’ll probably keep putting it out until the entire record’s worth of stuff is done and then put it out solid. It’s cool. I’m enjoying working on the stuff and having a good time doing it,” Slash revealed to Classic Rock magazine.

Guns N’ Roses Guitarist Opens Up About ‘Intense’ Restrictions During 2021 Tour

Guns N’ Roses wrapped up their 2021 tour last month following the European leg of their trek. Their official website already has numerous dates listed for 2022 when they hit the road once again this summer.

In late October, Slash spoke with Radio Bob and answered fan questions during a segment called “Bob’s Rock Call.” The famous guitarist was asked about getting back on stage following the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns. Like so many other bands, Guns N’ Roses put touring on hold during 2020. So to continue touring in 2021, the band had to implement strict restrictions to avoid any cancellations along the way.

“Guns just did a U.S. tour, which was a lot of fun. It was great because you had all these crowds that were super hungry for live gigs,” Slash explained. “And so it was a very energetic tour. At the same time, we also had a lot of intense restrictions. We didn’t have any kind of after show guests – no guests whatsoever – and we never left the hotel pretty much the entire time. And everybody just had to really keep it together so that we didn’t have somebody get sick and have to postpone the tour and all that kind of stuff. But we made it through unscathed. So it was good.”
