A rare collection of never-before-seen Elvis Presley photographs are going to auction next week. The eight candid photos of the King of Rock ‘N’ Roll include him holding his baby daughter, riding a horse at his ranch, and Presley at home enjoying a beer.
The recently unearthed images were likely taken in the late 1960s and early 1970s. The photographs would have been taken when Presley was somewhere around his early 30s.
An associate of Presley who worked with him in the music industry likely snapped the candid photos. Yet whoever took them locked them away for years and never shared them with the public.
Details on the Candid Elvis Presley Photos
The eight photographs give fans an intimate look into Elvis Presley’s everyday life. In fact, many are of Presley around his mansion at Graceland in Memphis, TN.
One shows the legendary singer in a blue suit holding his daughter Lisa Marie Presley as a baby in 1968. Lisa Marie, the only child of Elvis and his wife Priscilla, was raised at Graceland. Sadly, she was only nine years old when her father passed away in 1977.
Next, there are a few photos of Presley riding a horse at his ranch in Memphis. Some are of just him, while others are of Presley and his friends all riding horses. Then there’s one of him holding a beer in his driveway standing in front of a long black car. Finally, there’s a photograph of Presley in a car in Las Vegas while wearing his iconic white jumpsuit.
The Rare Images Are For Sale
However, after many years the photos will be going to a good home soon. An unnamed collector has chosen to sell the images through Omega Auctions of Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside in England. The seller will earn around £600 for the collection, or around $800 in U.S. currency.
“There are four polaroid photographs which, as per their nature, are unique so will all certainly be unseen and unpublished,” a spokesman for Omega Auctions said. “They came from a gentleman who bought the contents of a storage lockup. In the lockup there were numerous others items of music related memorabilia that had clearly come from somebody that worked in the music industry during the seventies.”
“The chances are that whoever’s lockup it was may have taken these photos,” the spokesman continued. “They are in excellent condition and there is always a big market for unique items of music memorabilia that people have not seen before.”
The auction for the rare Elvis Presley photos takes place on Tuesday, September 8. You can visit the auction and see the candid photos HERE.
