A real “National Treasure” of a mansion is finally under contract, and it happened to be owned by Nicolas Cage as well.
The century-old Tudor Revival mansion is located in Russian Hill, an expensive neighborhood within San Francisco. The 6,300-square-foot mansion, built back in 1914, is under contract with a price of $10 million. According to The Real Deal, to be exact, it is under contract for $9,950,000 and that price has stayed consistent since March 2020.
Nicolas Cage Mansion Under Contract
The house has actually been up for sale for about four years now. It only went under contract after going through a $2 million price cut.
It was a bit absurd that the house sat without an owner for all that time, seeing as other homes in Russian Hill were selling for more than the asking price. It’s because the Nicolas Cage mansion requires a little extra love.
“People look at it as a fixer. There are only a certain amount of people who have that kind of money and that kind of bandwidth. People in this price range are so busy and don’t have time for a renovation. Homes that do sell tend to be renovated and gorgeous. I think if the house were done, it would sell overnight,” Compass agent Mark Allan Levinson said to SFGate in 2019 while the house was still trying to sell.
Well, if you watch “Fixer Upper” with Chip and Joanna Gaines, you may have a very different (less expensive) perspective on what it means to be a fixer-upper-type home. Cage bought this house, as well as the lot next door, back in 2006. He obviously didn’t love it, seeing as he went to sell it the following spring.
He ended up losing $1 million from that real estate venture after it was all said and done.
Nicholas Cage New Movie
Cage hasn’t quite been involved in his Russian Hill mansion for several years now. Meanwhile, he’s still very involved in the moviemaking business.
Cage, Nicholas Hoult, Awkwafina, and Ben Schwartz are leading the upcoming film called “Renfield.” Chris McKay will direct the movie, which begins filming early next year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hoult will play the main title character. He is the famous henchman of Count Dracula in the film and Cage will play Dracula himself.
The famous duo will have a bit of a modernized relationship and it will have a comedic tone as the two go on an adventure together.
Nicolas Cage will also soon be stepping into a role he knows better than anyone else — himself. He will have a role in the comedy thriller, “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.” He will play “Nick Cage,” which is really just an invented version of Nic Cage.
Other cast members include Neil Patrick Harris, Lily Sheen, Sharon Horgan, and Tiffany Haddish.
