Nicole Kidman Opens Up on What Keith Urban Was Like During Her First Pregnancy

Fifteen years of a successful marriage is no small feat. Just ask “Being the Ricardos” star Nicole Kidman. Her first marriage to Tom Cruise didn’t work out for one reason or another and she later found her soulmate in Keith Urban, meeting him at a Hollywood event honoring Australians.

The rest is kind of history. The duo really does see their marriage as an equal partnership where they openly discuss their feelings about everything, regardless of how difficult that may be. Kidman says it’s always been like that with Urban, especially when it comes to fatherhood. She details how he adorably took on the role of a doting dad from day one, no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

The celebrity duo shares two children together, Sunday Rose, 13, and Faith Margaret, 10. Even before their oldest daughter was born, Keith Urban took fatherhood seriously. Nicole Kidman recounts one giant gesture he made early on in her pregnancy.

“When I was pregnant with Sunday, he got on a plane to fly to Australia to see the first ultrasound and was there for 6 hours, saw the heartbeat, and then had to fly back [to LA] to do a show,” Kidman tells People magazine.

But are we really surprised? Between that and all of the sweet serenades, it’s not at all difficult to understand why all the sparks are still flying almost two decades later.

The ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ Star Loves Being a Mother More Than Anything

Nicole Kidman has always been open about her love of children.

“It’s just fun because I just find their perspective not so heavy,” she says. “It puts you in a more childlike place where you go, ‘I can move through this and it can be fleeting. It doesn’t have to become a massive weight.’ “

In fact, one of her biggest regrets in life is not having more of them. “I would’ve loved 10 kids,” Kidman revealed to Marie Claire Australia back in August.

At the end of the day, though, she’s made peace with the fact that she can still find fulfillment by nurturing children that aren’t her own.

“But that’s okay because I get to mother other children,” she explains. “I have six nieces and nephews and I’m godmother to 12. I love mothering, I love kids: They’re quirky, funny, and unfiltered. And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way.”

Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban, and their two children will actually be reuniting with all of Kidman’s family in Australia for the holidays ahead. “He’s just my favorite person,” she gushes. “Truly. I mean, Sunny, Faith, and Keith.”
