Nicole Kidman Speaks Out About How Her Family Has Been Handling Lockdown

Nicole Kidman and her family are “climbing the walls” while in lockdown.

On Friday (Aug. 20), the actress spoke with Weekend Today from her home in Sydney, Australia.

“We’re in lockdown now. We’re not busy. I’m sitting here doing this from the apartment,” she said. “My kids are going, you know, they go for a walk for an hour a day and we’re kind of climbing the walls.”

Although she has enjoyed the time with her family, she wants this pandemic to end. Kidman and her husband Keith Urban are parents to daughters 13-year-old Sunday Rose and 10-year-old Faith Margaret. In her previous marriage to Tom Cruise the former couple welcomed children, 28-year-old Isabella Jane Cruise and 26-year-old Connor Cruise. The two Cruise kids are adults and not living with Kidman.

Nicole Kidman recently came under fire after flying from Sydney to Hong Kong last Thursday. She avoided quarantine by being exempt from the goverment as she was taking a private jet for work. She is set to star in an Amazon Originals series. A spokesperson for the goverment explained their decision. At this time, no breaches or cases have been reported from the crew.

“The case in discussion has been granted permission to travel to Hong Kong with a quarantine exemption for the purpose of performing designated professional work.” The representative added that this work was “conducive to maintaining the necessary operation and development of Hong Kong’s economy.”

Typically, not many people are exempt from COVID-19 safety regulations. Even most Olympic athletes had to complete the mandatory quarantine period. For those wishing to travel to the country, you will need to quarantine in a hotel at your own expense for 14 or 21 days. The majority of social media users with unhappy with their decision to let her bypass the rules.

Nicole Kidman’s Love For Family

To promote her upcoming work, she recently spoke with Marie Claire Australia. She opened up to the outlet about her desire for a larger family.

“I would’ve loved 10 kids,” Nicole Kidman shared. “But that’s OK because I get to mother other children. I have six nieces and nephew and I’m godmother to 12. I love mothering, I love kids: they’re quirky, funny and unfiltered. And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way.”

Kidman has been open about her struggle with infertility. During her eleven year marriage with Cruise, she suffered from an ectopic pregnancy, miscarriages, and underwent fertility treatments. Cruise and Kidman then decided to adopt Isabella and Connor. Kidman got pregnant with her and Urban’s daughter Sunday by a “miracle.” Their youngest daughter Faith was later born via a surrogacy.

She also called meeting her husband Keith Urban “an absolute miracle.”

“Two Aussies born in the same year, but living in different worlds and cities, how did that happen? It was meant to be,” she said.
