Ever since she was a little girl, Nicole Kidman has been enthralled by Hollywood. Her childhood in Australia was the precedent for her massive career.

In a recent post on Instagram, Kidman reflected on her childhood with a cute photo. Watching the Oscars remotely, the 53-year-old actress tuned into the award show like she always has.

Nicole Kidman captioned the post: “Sitting crossed legged on the floor watching the #Oscars… Been doing this since I was a little girl”

It’s always fun to see celebrities of her caliber still doing things the way they did before their fame. Kidman didn’t come from Hollywood royalty, so it’s not hard to imagine she still has that spark of wonder each time she watches the world of cinema’s biggest award show.

The Childhood of Nicole Kidman

Interestingly enough, Kidman was born in Honolulu, Hawaii. Her parents, native Australians, were on the island of Oahu to study, and Kidman happened to come along on June 20, 1967.

A few years after spending time in Hawaii as well as Washington, D.C., Kidman and her parents headed back to Australia. The future starlet was raised in Sydney, and begin practicing and working in entertainment at a young age.

Showing prowess in both ballet and acting, she was encouraged to continue exploring her talents. Interestingly enough, she and Naomi Watts ended up attending the same theater in their younger years.

After gaining traction through Australian film and television, Kidman starred in her first American production, Days of Thunder. An Outsider favorite, the film depicts Kidman as a doctor and Tom Cruise as a young NASCAR driver who fall in love.

The next three decades and counting, Nicole Kidman is one of Hollywood’s most recognizable names. From Batman Forever to Eyes Wide Shut to Bombshell, the Australian actress has made an indelible mark in film.

Kidman Set to Portray Lucille Ball

And if her career wasn’t already huge, the 52-year-old will be playing Lucille Ball in an upcoming Aaron Sorkin film titled, Being the Ricardos.

Kidman will play opposite of Javier Bardem, who will be playing Desi Arnaz. The prospect of the film is enticing to say the least, but with two acting icons in the roles, it has the making of a classic.

Of course, that’s what Sorkin thinks. In an interview, he offered plaudits for Kidman and is excited for the world to see her as Ball.

“I think that the people thought that we’ve cast them as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo,” Sorkin told ET. “The film takes place during a production week of ‘I Love Lucy’ – a Monday table read to Friday audience taping, with a whole bunch of long flashbacks which are telling the story that got us here – and because there’s a table read, there’s rehearsals and then there’s tape night, we do see moments of them being Lucy and Ricky Ricardo. We see moments from an episode of ‘I Love Lucy.’”
