Country music band Old Dominion are a favorite for music listeners who love contemporary country with rock instrumentation and some pop overtones.

The band consists of five members; Matthew Ramsey on lead vocals, Trevor Rosen on guitar/keyboards, Whit Sellers on drums, Geoff Sprung on bass guitar, and Brad Tursi on guitar.

Old Dominion has released three EPs and three-full length albums since their emergence in 2007.

But what is the group member’s favorite full-length Christmas movie that gets them into that holiday spirit?

Matthew and Geoff’s Picks

The information regarding the band’s picks comes from a Sony Music record label interview and press release.

For Matthew Ramsey his favorite is “Christmas Vacation.”

He claims that “‘Christmas Vacation’ is the must-watch movie for me … holiday season or not, that’s one of my favorite movies period.”

The 1989 movie, “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” is an older Christmas classic. It was produced and written by John Hughes and is a family comedy.

The plot follows Clark Griswold and his family trying their best to have a nice, family Christmas. It starts with them comically looking through the country for the best tree.

For Geoff Sprung, his go-to is “Elf.” He said that “Mine has become ‘Elf,’ especially now that I have got a little kid to watch it with. That’s mine.”

The movie “Elf” is about an outcast of a North Pole “elf” coming to New York City to meet his father. It is a comedic, often musical, expression of love and the Christmas spirit. The film stars Will Ferrell and Zooey Deschanel.

Brad and Trevor’s Picks

For Brad Tursi, his favorite movie choice was the old black-and-white classic “It’s a Wonderful Life.”

“I’d say ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ and ‘A Christmas Story,’ the two that I always end up seeming to have my eyeballs on.”

“It’s a Wonderful Life” is one of the original classic Christmas movies starring famous old-time actor Jimmy Stewart.

The 1946 film is about a man who realizes, through the help of his guardian angel, how he has touched the lives of his community and his family. Critics consider the film one of the best. It has five Academy Awards. Most notably, it has the American Film Institute’s recognition as one of the 100 best American films ever made.

“A Christmas Story” has become a generational piece best known for its 24-hour appearance on TV on Christmas Eve. It tells the story of a small boy and his middle-class family’s humorful experience navigating Christmas.

Trevor Rosen has memories of his favorite holiday being filled with grandmothers, a warm fire, and a cozy Bing Crosby record ringing through the house.

Old Dominion’s most recent album is their self-titled album. If all goes to plan, they are set to go on tour starting in Tampa, Florida on May 1, 2021.
