On Tuesday (October 19th) online streaming service Netflix announced the official premiere date of the fourth and final season of Jason Bateman’s hit drama series Ozark.

“There’s no turning back now. Ozark Season 4 Part 1 premieres January 21, 2022,” Netflix declared on its social media channels. The streaming service also shared a sneak peek video from the upcoming season.

According to its IMDb, Ozark follows a financial advisor who drags his family from Chicago to the Missouri Ozark where he must launder money to appease a drug boss. The show was created by The Accountant Bill Dubuque. Starring alongside Bateman in the series includes Laura Linney, Skylar Gaertner, Sofia Hublitz, and Lisa Emery.

Bateman previously spoke to The New York Times in 2015 about Ozark. “It’s probably going to be the hardest work I’ve ever done. And that’s good,” he explained at the time. Bateman is executive producing the series. He also directed a few of the show’s episodes.

In August 2020, Bateman told IndieWire that Ozark is working out better than he could’ve ever hoped for. “I had high, high hopes. Those first two scripts that I read, there was a lot of mood, a lot of danger, a lot of crisis, a lot of things that I was really curious to see if I could deliver to the audience as a director.”

Bateman also noted that people who ended up watching Ozark encourages him and the show’s team to keep going and make it better and slightly more challenging. “It’s been very gratifying, and it fuels me to try to take even a bigger, more challenging swing on the next project.”

In regards to what his plans are for after Ozark comes to an end, Bateman goes on to add, “I’m really, really interested in going further as a director and challenging myself with all that responsibility.
