Ozzy Osbourne is celebrating the anniversary of his album Ordinary Man. The Wizard of Ozz on Saturday tweeted a photo from the February 2020 release party featuring his wife, Sharon, and daughter Kelly.
Ordinary Man was Ozzy’s first solo album in 10 years. And it was his first top 10 record in three decades. That’s a record for the longest gap between top 10 albums, Billboard said. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard Top 100.
But Osbourne wasn’t even sure he was up to record an entire album. Fans can thank Post Malone and his producer Andrew Watt for getting him back in the studio. After Osbourne appeared in a song on Malone’s album Hollywood’s Bleeding, Watt asked if he’d be interested in working on an album together.
“I previously had said to Sharon I should be doing an album, but in the back of my mind I was going, ‘I haven’t got the f******g strength,’ but Andrew pulled it out of me,” Osbourne told Louder Sound. “I really hope people listen to it and enjoy it because I put my heart and soul into it.”
Osbourne celebrated another big anniversary in January. It’s been 39 years since he first bit the head off of a bat. In fact, you can even commemorate the event and purchase a detachable head bat plush toy.
“The Ozzy Osbourne Plush Bat is a web exclusive. Bring the legendary moment in rock history to life with this soft toy Plush Bat, featuring the Ozzy Osbourne logo and a velcro detachable head,” Osbourne’s website said.
Ozzy Osbourne Back in Studio Working on Next Album
Ozzy Osbourne has stayed during the coronavirus lockdown. In fact, he’s already back in the studio working on the follow-up. He tweeted it recently. That’s a marked improvement considering Scream, the album before Ordinary Man, came out in 2010.
Osbourne said nothing about potential guests on his upcoming album. Ordinary Man included major musical guests like Elton John, who worked on the title track, and Post Malone, who was on“It’s a Raid.”
Not much is known about the follow-up album, however. Osbourne hasn’t discussed any potential release dates or any of the tracks.
