The guys at the Gold & Silver Pawn Shop see all manner of items come through the door. Most of the time, they have some kind of historical significance. For instance, they’ve had a pistol that belonged to Buffalo Bill, shipwreck gold, and items from stars’ personal collections come in. Usually, the items are fascinating. However, sometimes the history attached to the items is dark. Other times, the items are downright creepy. In one episode of Pawn Stars, Corey got a little bit of everything when a set of creepy dolls with a dark story came in.
Mya brought the dolls in, hoping to get $2000 out of the Pawn Stars crew. In an early cutaway, she said the least she would take for her collection was $1,500. When she took the ten tiny baby dolls out of her bag, Corey knew what he was looking at. Mya said her mother got them at an estate sale and she wanted to get rid of them. She said the dolls creeped her out and it probably didn’t get better when she learned more about them.
Mya had two sets of Dionne Quintuplet dolls. Corey explained to her and the Pawn Stars audience that the Dionne Quintuplets were born in the early 1930s. At the time, having identical quints was almost unheard of. As a result, they were an international news sensation. Additionally, they were the first quintuplets to survive infancy.

That’s when things got dark. The Pawn Stars star said that soon after the quints were born, things took a turn. The Canadian government deemed their parents unfit to raise them. As a result, they took the babies and “pretty much turned them into a tourist attraction,” Corey explained. The Dionne children would spend all day in a playroom with one-way glass. People would come from all over and pay a fee to watch the kids play. In the end, the Dionnes regained custody of their children. The two longest-living Dionne Quintuplets sued the Canadian government in the 90s and won.
Negotiations
After hearing the story, Mya was more than ready to be rid of the dolls. Pawn Stars fans won’t be surprised to learn that Corey called in an expert to appraise them. Overall, Mya was on the money in her original estimate. They were worth about $2,000. One set appraised for $600 and the other was worth between $1,200 and $1,400. However, Corey wouldn’t go above $1,400 for both sets.
In a rare moment for Pawn Stars, Mya decided that she wouldn’t take any less than $1,500. As a result, she decided to keep the creepy dolls. However, Corey said his offer is on the table if she ever changes her mind.
