Phil Robertson has a few words of wisdom for his Instagram followers this morning after a duck hunting trip with Uncle Si.
Posting to his official Instagram page with almost 150k followers, Robertson speaks a handful of his trademark wisdom.
“You know, the government has figured out a way to make money off of everything these days, including a man chasing a duck during teal season.” These are the wise words of the man himself as he shares his latest hunting selfie. This time, he’s knee-deep into teal season and ready for some duck hunting alongside Uncle Si.
Teal season for Phil & Si Robertson
For the less initiated than Sir Phil, “teal season” is the common name for hunting blue-winged teal ducks. Hunting these seasons, however, depends on which state you live in and their local laws. Typically, the first start up right about now in September. Wade Bourne of Ducks.org helps break down the reasoning behind this:
So that hunters can take advantage of this early migration, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service allows special teal hunts in September in non-waterfowl production states in the Atlantic, Mississippi, and Central flyways when certain population thresholds are met. This special season lasts 9 or 16 days, depending on the number of bluewings in the breeding population the preceding spring.Wade Bourne, Ducks.org
Fans always get a kick out of seeing Uncle Si again, too. The U.S. Army Veteran, musician, and retired king of duck-calls can be seen dressed for the occasion. If looks could kill a duck, these two brothers are set for life.
