Enjoying some fun in the sun, actress and model Brooke Shields took to Instagram to share a picture of her spending quality time with her daughters Rowan and Grier, at the beach.

In the new pic, Brooke is seen soaking up the sun with her daughters while wearing matching black and white plaid swimsuits. The snap’s caption reads, “soaking it all in.”

According to People, Brooke is wearing Aerie’s Gingham Puff Sleeve Bikini Top and Gingham Ruched High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottoms. Her daughter, Rowan, is sporting a Gingham Puff Sleeve One-Piece Swimsuit, while Grier dons a two-piece style like her mother in Aerie’s Gingham Longline Bandeau Bikini Top with high-waisted Gingham Ruched High Cut Cheeky Bikini Bottoms.

Brooke and her daughters got matching ladybug tattoos earlier this month. Shields reveals in a social media post that the tattoo is “a special graduation gift and memory” with her girl.

Brooke Shields Suffers Devastating Accident Earlier This Year

In January 2021, Brooke Shields revealed she suffered a devastating accident while working out on a balance board at a New York City gym. The Blue Lagoon star explains at the time that the accident “felt like it was all in slow motion.” She then says, “And then I just started screaming. Sounds came out that I’ve never heard before.” Anxiety notably kicked in when EMTs put her on a stretcher. “I kept saying, ‘I can feel my toes’ because I was so afraid I was paralyzed.”

Brooke Shields luckily wasn’t paralyzed, but had broken her right femur. She underwent a long recovery process and wasn’t exactly afraid to share the not-so-glamorous photos of herself recovering, including one of her arms wrapped in a heavy gauze.

Brooke’s Road to Recovery

Unfortunately for Brooke, the actress was hit with another health hurdle. After a long surgery that kept her in the hospital for two weeks, Shields managed to pick up a serious staph infection. She undergoes yet another emergency surgery on the IV site and has multiple blood transfusions. Thankfully, the infection’s bacteria did not have resistance to antibiotics and she has since recovered.

In a recent interview with ABC News correspondent Deborah Roberts, Shields states she has been working very harden the physical therapy she has been doing. Despite the long recovery process, Brooke explains she has found a silver lining in the situation. “I think it’s almost been the biggest blessing to date because I realize what a fighter I am.”

Shields goes on to add, “If I can turn it into anything positive, or I can teach my girls, yeah, stuff is going to happen in your life, and how you respond is going to define you, and adversity will reveal you. It won’t make you as much as it will reveal you because you see who you are.”
