The Pioneer Woman has headed to Peppermint Hollow to become a sweet and genuine bakery owner in Food Network’s first original film. While Ree Drummond typically spends her days in front of cameras, this will be the cooking show host’s first time portraying a character. Back in Oklahoma, Drummond stands in her kitchen, doing what she does best – sharing her family and favorite recipes. Now as a star in Candy Coated Christmas, Drummond is making her debut in acting. Needless to say, she was a bit nervous before the first day on set.
Fans of the Pioneer Woman have been following her activity on social media closely for any new updates on the upcoming film. On Thursday, Drummond posted some sneak preview shots of the set in Utah on Instagram. In the cover photo, the Food Network star smiled brightly on the stoop of a front door. Dressed in a puffy coat, blue jeans and a red scarf, Drummond hands the homeowner a basket of goodies. Even though the pastries are probably just props, in real life, a bunch of Pioneer Woman desserts would be an enviable gift.
In her caption, the new movie star explained in her caption what her first experience on set was like. Drummond explained that in every photo she posted in the album, she locked her knees. Wanting to do well in front of the camera, the Pioneer Woman likely held all of her anxiety in her slender gams.
“I might need a cortisone shot after all that stress on my cartilage,” Drummond wrote. “Things I never said when I was younger.”

The ‘Pioneer Woman’ Explains How Utah Heat Helped Distract From Her Nerves
Of course, as soon as the post became available, fans of the Pioneer Woman flooded the comments with compliments and praise. Although, one fan might not have heard the news of Drummond’s new role in Candy Coated Christmas, and at first glance wondered why the Oklahoma resident was wearing a winter jacket in August until reading her caption.
“It was extremely hot when we were filming this scene!” Drummond responded. “Sweat was trickling. It was a nice distraction from my nerves.”
Meanwhile, another fan took notice of one of the Food Network star’s outfits, a flattering green sweater with a pair of skinny leather pants. The fan awarded the Pioneer Woman‘s style with a slew of fire emojis.
“Ohhhh thank you for noticing,” Drummond wrote back. “Haven’t worn black leather pants since…well, I don’t think ever.”
As the Pioneer Woman said in her caption, since turning 50, she was no longer afraid of embarrassing herself anymore and was probably thrilled to adorn the chic ensemble. Perhaps Drummond’s next debut might just be on a runway.
