Rachael Ray Gives First Look at Stunning Rebuilt Estate Year Removed from Catastrophic Fire: VIDEO

During the summer of 2020, chef and talk show host Rachael Ray lost her home in a fire. Only the basement and foundation were left after the Upstate New York mansion burned for seven straight days. But over a year later, she and her husband revealed that their home has been rebuilt. And the couple gave a preview of their gorgeous estate on YouTube.

On the night of August 9th, 2020, Rachael Ray’s lakeside home caught fire. Ray had built a fire while she prepared dinner for her husband, John Cusimano. But before they sat down to eat, they heard a man screaming from their backyard that the roof was on fire.

Rachael and her husband ran back into the house, hoping to grab important memories, but the fire spread quickly. Before she could reach anything, a fireman told her she had to get out immediately. So she picked up her dog and left. Everyone, including the dog, made it out safely. The estate, however, was left in ruins.

“15 years of memories; 40 years of notebooks, drawings, thoughts, my life’s work,” she told her audience on her talk show. “It took about one hour for this house to come down—and in my mind, it took decades before it was even built.”

The blaze began in one of the estate’s chimneys, despite the fact that Rachael had them cleaned twice a year. And what made the situation harder was that Ray had moved her livelihood to her home when the Pandemic broke out. When Hollywood studios began to shut down, she filmed the Rachel Ray Show into her personal kitchen.

While the fire took the main house and severely damaged the property, it did not spread to the couple’s guest house. So, for the past year, that is where the couple lived.

Rachael Ray Unveils Her Newly Built Estate

Rachael Ray and John Cusimano revealed their newly built house on the season premiere of Rachael’s talk show this morning. The home is beautiful. And as Ray said, “It’s as close to the original as we could [make it].”

In a bittersweet video, Ray and Cusimano sat inside their restored house and recalled the night they lost everything. The Lake Luzerne estate fell to the ground almost immediately, and the couple watched it continue to burn for seven days.

“Basically, John and I lost most of our adult lives—everything we had for over 50 years of our lives went away.”

But despite the loss, they couldn’t be happier to have a home again. And it looks almost identical to the original plans. “It’s a facsimile,” ray told her viewers.

The sprawling rustic home is gorgeous. Impressive, golden reclaimed wood covers the ceilings and floors. The look gives the house a homey and charming feel.

“All of this is fallen wood,” she explained. It’s reclaimed fallen barns and beam work which gave the house the warmth that it had.”

At the end of the clip, Rachael gave an update saying they “hope” to have the house completed within the next few weeks. And if it is, she’ll give us a full tour.
