Over the weekend, The Morning Show star Reese Witherspoon took to her Instagram to share a snapshot of her and her children Ava and Deacon.
“Turns out… goofy is genetic 🧬!” Reese Witherspoon captions the pic, which shows the actress and her kiddos striking a hilarious pose with adorable smiles.
Ava and Deacon are the children of Reese Witherspoon and Big Sky actor Ryan Phillippe. Witherspoon and Phillippe first met at her 21st birthday party in March 1997. The couple were married in June 1999 and even starred in Cruel Intentions together. Ava was born in September 1999 while Deacon was born in 2003. Witherspoon and Phillippe separated in 2006 and divorced in 2007.
Reese Witherspoon Opens Up About Her Relationship With Her ‘Adult’ Children
During her recent Q&A session with Interview, Reese Witherspoon shares details about the relationship she has with her adult children. “I never expected the kind of relationship that I have with them,” Witherspoon explains. “But it’s so rewarding to be able to have kids that you can process life with a little bit.”
Reese Witherspoon also states that her adult children have helped her understand the complexities of what it means to be a human right now. “So I’m really, really grateful that these little humans are in my life. Adult humans. I have two adult children now. It’s crazy.”
When asked what was the last thing that gave her delight, Reese states, “Dancing around my kitchen this morning of different Top 40 songs. I’ll do anything to make people laugh, it’s sad. I’m sure my children find it horrifying. But my mother used to do the same thing.”
Along with her Ava and Deacon, Reese Witherspoon has a son, Tennessee, with her now-husband, Jim Toth. Witherspoon and Toth were married in March 2011 and she had Tennessee in September 2012.
Witherspoon Talks Acting Career Over The Years
Also during her interview with Interview, Reese explains that while her career has taken off, her main focus is being a mother. “I’m a mom first. I’m somebody’s daughter. I’ve worked around teams since I was 14-years-old. So I definitely think I’m a team leader at this point. I can safely say that. I’m a doer. I don’t like to talk about things for too long.”
Witherspoon reveals the more important thing to her about who she’s become over the years besides acting. “I now know what I’m good at and I know what I’m not good at. My passions have become more intensified as I’ve gotten older.”
The actress goes on to add that she truly believes that like-minded people who get together and push towards a greater good can create real change in the world. “I only believe that because of the friendships I’ve made with extraordinary women over the past four years. Before that, I felt so lonely, and it was really hard for me because of a lot of the conversations I was having in rooms in Hollywood.”
