Robert Duvall Joins Cast of New Netflix Horror-Thriller

Robert Duvall, who is best known for his work on the set of To Kill a Mocking Bird, Apocalypse Now, and M*A*S*H, is reportedly set to join the cast of Netflix’s new horror-thriller film The Pale Blue Eye.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Robert Duvall, Gillian Anderson, and Timothy Spall have joined the cast of the film. It was revealed earlier this year that Christian Bale would be starring in The Pale Blue Eye as well.

According to its synopsis on IMDb, The Pale Blue Eye follows a veteran detective who investigates a murder with the help of a detail-oriented young cadet. The cadet will notably later become the famous author, Edgar Allan Poe. Joey Brooks, Brennan Cook, Gideon Glick, Fred Hechinger, Matt Helm, Steven Maier, and Charlie Tahan will also star in the upcoming film.

There has to be any news about when The Pale Blue Eye will premiere on the video streaming service.

Robert Duvall Looks Back on His Exciting Film Career

During an April 2021 interview with WBUR, Robert Duvall opened up about his acting career throughout the years. “I feel that the work done now ensemble-wise is better than before. It goes on and on and on and on and one.”

Although he has been in Hollywood for nearly 70 years, Robert Duvall stated he’s not sure when his final film project will be. “There’s a few more left. Maybe,” the 90-year-old actor explains. He then reflected about working alongside Francis Ford Coppola on Apocalypse Now and his famous line, “I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

“That was Coppola,” Robert Duvall declared. “That was scripted, ‘I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like victory.’ I asked Francis, ‘I only ask you one time, I’d like to play that part.’ And when I got there, the part was overwritten.”

Robert Duvall described his Apocalypse Now character as being a cowboy with boots. “And it was a caricature. It was first written as a character called Col. Carnage. So I got with a guy who had been in Vietnam. He told how to shape it with the air cavalry.”

Robert Duvall then turned his attention to talk about his role as a preacher in The Apostle. hE described the role as being interesting. “I studied preachers all over American. And the great preacher I met was Isham Williams. An elderly Black preacher from Hamilton, Virginia.”

Robert Duvall also stated that “fire and brimstone preachers” show like a truly American “art” form. “I sent a copy of the film to Marlon Brando and he sent me back a note. It was wonderful. He accepted it.”

When he heard that Billy Graham had accepted the film, Robert Duvall said he got it from the secular and from the religious community. “And I have this letter on the wall from Brando. I like it more than my Oscar.”
