Shark Week 2021 has finally arrived!

For the 33rd year in a row, Discovery is back with shark-themed programming. July 1 kicked off the celebrations with three specials. The official week begins on July 11th through the 18th. Each night specials run between 8 and 11 PM ET.

Fans can tune in to the show via Discovery Channel or Discovery+. Discovery+ is the new streaming subscription service with plans starting at $4.99 per month. This year fans will be treated to 45 hours of shark content with a total of 32 specials. Between July 12 and 18th exclusive specials will be aired on Discovery+ only.

Shark Week helps out the creatures of the sea. Discovery is working with Oceana who helps aid in the fight against shark fin trade. According to Discovery, the fun trade market has reached record highs. Their goal is to help raise money for Oceana and educate viewers on the importance of these majestic creatures.

This year, Discovery also partnered with the non-profit Beneath the Waves. The charity’s goal is to aid in conservation, ocean policy, and create initiatives to educate people.

Shark Week Specials

Celebrities like Brad Paisley, William Shatner, Tiffany Haddish, and some of the Sharknado stars will be taking part in the festivities.

Steve Irwin’s son Robert Irwin will have his own special with Crikey! It’s Shark Week. Although he was known as The Crocodile Hunter, Steve also had a soft spot for sharks.

This will mark Robert’s first time coming in contact with a Great White Shark. He will be working alongside famed conservationists Paul de Gelder and Madison Stewart. During this journey, he will discover which apex predator is the top, crocodiles or sharks?

“Having the opportunity to follow in my dad’s footsteps and experience the ultimate apex predator first hand was awe-inspiring,” Robert said.

Additionally, the cast of Jackass also has a few tricks and hijinks up their sleeves for Shark Week. Johnny Knoxville sent Steve-O, Chris Pontius, along with new crew members for an unforgettable adventure. They will perform a series of shark stunts that will leave viewers stunned.

We went all out for our Jackass Shark Week special, and there were consequences,” Steve-O said. “Safe to say it’s going to be a hit!”

Finally, in Jaws Awaken: Phred Vs. Slash, cameras will voyage to New Zealand. Nobody knows which shark is the largest in the current world. Previously spotted sharks Phred or Slash just might be the biggest. Which one will reign supreme?
