Steve Irwin may be gone. But his legacy continues to shine brighter than ever through his children Robert and Bindi and their accomplishments. In one of his latest social media posts, Robert Irwin posed with his niece Grace Warrior for a short photo shoot.
Now that he’s older, Robert is a spitting image of the late Crocodile Hunter. And baby Grace looks very much like a miniature version of her mother Bindi. Robert Irwin celebrated the occasion by posting how glad he is to be an uncle to such a wonderful and adorable baby.
On Instagram, he wrote: “Uncle life is just the best. Look at Grace’s little smile!!!!”
Previously, Irwin discussed what it feels like to be an uncle. He said he felt incredibly honored to be a part of his sister’s child’s life. And he doesn’t take it for granted. “Mate, it’s incredible. I’m honored I get to be a part of Grace’s life and it feels like a new chapter for our family. It’s really lovely.”
Steve Irwin Would Be Proud
It’s hard to say there was anyone more passionate about wildlife than Steve Irwin. The conversationalist had a wide-eyed wonder when it came to the animal kingdom and the natural world. For years, viewers watched Irwin and his exploits as he showed them different creatures on “The Crocodile Hunter.” But Irwin’s exploration of nature sadly cost him his life in September 2006.
In a freak occurrence, Irwin died when a stingray barb pierced his heart. He had been swimming in Batt Reef, Queensland when he accidentally spooked the creature. The barb killed Irwin as a result, shocking viewers across the world. But Irwin’s children Bindi and Robert inherited Irwin’s love for the animal kingdom.
Bindi, Robert, and their mother Terri star in the reality series “Crikey! It’s the Irwins” following their continued exploits. The show premiered in 2018 and followed the Irwins’ lives as well such as Bindi’s pregnancy for instance.
And Irwin’s legacy will live on into the next generation. Bindi named her daughter’s middle name, Warrior, in tribute to her father. She hopes that Grace carries her father’s bravery and kindness through life. In social media, Bindi doted on her daughter and described what being a mother felt like.
“Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to my dad [Steve Irwin] and his legacy as the most incredible Wildlife Warrior. Her last name is Powell and she already has such a kind soul just like her dad,” she wrote. “There are no words to describe the infinite amount of love in our hearts for our sweet baby girl. She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed.”
