Stevie Nicks Announces Cancellation of All 2021 Concerts

On Tuesday, iconic Fleetwood Mac singer and songwriter Stevie Nicks announced that she has canceled all dates for her scheduled 2021 concerts.

The 73-year-old musician noted rising cases of Covid-19 as the reason she decided to take action. Nicks only had five scheduled shows for 2021, but chose not to move forward with them. Each of her concerts were festival appearances. Therefore, as of now, each festival is still on, save for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, but Stevie Nicks will not be included in them as originally planned.

She had upcoming shows at the Jazz Aspen Festival in Colorado on Sept. 3. Next up, she had a scheduled concert as part of the BottleRock Napa Valley festival, which runs over Labor Day weekend from Sept. 3-5. In addition, Nicks was supposed to play both weekends of the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Those weekends are the following month on Oct. 1-3 and Oct. 8-10. Nicks had her final 2021 appearance scheduled for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, which was cancelled just days ago.

Stevie Nicks Shares Statement on Cancelations

Earlier this afternoon, Stevie Nicks shared a heartfelt message with her fans on Twitter. She posted a Tweet announcing her concert cancellations, which she decided out of extreme caution for herself and her fans.

“These are challenging times with challenging decisions that have to be made,” Stevie Nicks said on Twitter. “I want everyone to be safe and healthy and the rising Covid cases should be of concern to all of us. While I’m vaccinated, at my age, I am still being extremely cautious and for that reason have decided to skip the 5 performances I had planned for 2021.”

“Because singing and performing have been my whole life, my primary goal is to keep healthy so I can continue singing for the next decade or longer. I’m devastated and I know the fans are disappointed. But we will look towards a brighter 2022,” she said.

Fleetwood Mac Singer Blocks Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham’s Return to Band

Recently, Fleetwood Mac drummer Mick Fleetwood spoke out about guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The drummer wants Buckingham to return to the band. However, reports suggest that singer Stevie Nicks has no desire for Buckingham’s return.

Nicks and Buckingham have a long history with each other. Supposedly she blocked guitarist Lindsey Buckingham from rejoining the band. Back in 2018, Buckingham left the band after further issues came up within the group. The famous guitarist is a vital part of the band who helped Fleetwood Mac ascend to music stardom in the 1970s.

According to Buckingham’s previous statements, Nicks never wants to perform with the guitarist ever again. For her part, Nicks has agreed. Following Buckingham’s 2018 exit, Fleetwood Mac replaced him with two musicians. Crowded House’s Neil Finn and Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ Mike Campbell joined the iconic band.
