‘Swamp People’: King of the Swamp Takes a Huge Gamble in Season 11

Swamp People‘s own King of the Swamp, Troy Landry, take a huge gamble on his deckhand and friend, Terral Evans, via a secret honey hole.

Out on Lake Verret, Troy Landry is ready to try something new for Season 11.

“Big buddy, I’ve heard you talk enough about Cypress Bayou. I hope it pays off,” he tells Terral Evans, a trusted friend and skilled deckhand.

“It’s gon’ pay! It’s gon’ play,” Evans replies.

As Landry explains for Swamp People Season 11, Episode 10, “Big T” wants the revered gator hunter to give one of his own old areas a spin: said Cypress Bayou.

“You been talking about it for a few years,” Landry says as they venture along. And there’s a good reason Big T wants to give his old hole another shot, too.

“It’s been untouched,” he says. “Nobody’s been there in at least five years, I know. And I’ve been in there froggin’ and seen big alligators. They’re there!”

But for Troy, this is uncharted territory.

‘Swamp People’s Troy Landry: ‘I Really, Really Don’t Like Goin’ to Places that Somebody Else Wants Me to Go to’

“I really, really don’t like goin’ to places that somebody else wants me to go to,” the Swamp People icon reveals. “I’ve got burnt so many times that I’m gun shy now. I like to do my own thing.”

Any Outsider can relate to that, right? The look on Landry’s face is instantly recognizable, too. He’s unsure all the way through this journey. The area is beautiful, sure, but it’s deeply remote. So much so that Troy’s already worried about filling all their tags before they even arrive.

If this gamble doesn’t pay off, it’s someone else’s fault. And that’s not something Swamp People‘s Troy Landry is looking forward to.

“But Big T swears up and down they got good alligators over there,” he says. “He’s been good! He’s been helping us the last couple of years, the boys and I. So, I’m gonna, just to make him happy, I’m’a try.”

And try the hunting legend does. Thankfully, his kindness and patience is rewarded right off the bat when a dead-looking line proves hot. “He’s playin’ possum!” Evans shouts as the gator begins putting up a fight.

This is only the beginning, too. The resulting journey for Troy Landry is one of Swamp People‘s best, and can be found starting at the 15-minute mark in History’s full episode below.
