Shemar Moore, “S.W.A.T.” star, joined some of his fellow castmates to sling some beanbags together. This is not the first time, either. A select few of the cast actually put together an official cornhole team fit with its own Instagram @swatcornhole. This event, particularly, marked a big moment for the team.

The cleverly named “Throw Down” is actually the world’s largest cornhole tournament, held in Ventura, California. It sold out the last 10 years, making it one heck of an exclusive party. Along with Moore, fans might recognize David Lim and Odie Gallop from the photo series posted to Moore’s 4 million followers yesterday.

With a changing annual theme, this year’s theme for the event was “Go Big or Go Home.” Over 1000 teams battled for over $230,000.00 in prizes in the main tournament. Side tournaments added nearly $50K to the mix as well. In addition to the main cornhole events, the “Throw Down” hosted a variety of food and entertainment for guests. Even AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses couldn’t miss the festivities.

Action shots capture Shemar Moore’s excellent form as he tried to lead his team to victory. Fans couldn’t get enough of the star’s get up either. Rocking dark sunglasses and a cowboy hat, Moore kept things cool and casual. He flashed those pearly whites on more than one occasion, looking especially chipper while surrounded by his buddies. It was a Sunday Fun Day for the books.

Shemar Moore: Cornhole and Cornrows?

Known for being a bit of a goof, Shemar Moore often pokes fun at his appearance. Some fans will remember one of his most controversial looks back in Diary of a Mad Black Woman. In Tyler Perry’s debut film, Moore rocked a wig giving him the appearance of cornrows. Little did he know, the internet would have such strong opinions. Every so often, the hairstyle finds itself amongst the trending topics on Twitter. Huff Post even called it one of the worst hairstyles on film and TV at one point. In sitting down with Movie Web, Shemar explained the artistic choice:

“A lesson in this movie is dig beneath the surface. And so with my words, with my character, I purposely created a character that was away from how you’ve known me thus far in my career. So that’s what the cornrows were about. I gained 15 pounds. That’s what the beard was. It’s like, Let me just flip it. Let me just hide a little bit so you can get caught up in who this guy is.”

Nowadays, the “Sexiest Man Alive” contender proudly rocks a shiny, bald head. We hope you enjoy this throwback from Moore’s Instagram of the chop so many seasons of “S.W.A.T.” ago.
