Sylvester Stallone’s Boxing Gloves from ‘Rocky III’ and ‘Rambo’ Items Up for Auction

by Allison Hambrick

A variety of Sylvester Stallone’s props are up for auction. This includes a pair of boxing gloves the actor used in Rocky III as well as over 500 pieces of memorabilia.

Because the actor is trading his Hollywood home for an estate in Palm Springs, Stallone is doing what we all do before a big move: having a yard sale. Granted, the average yard sale doesn’t include a spiral bound notebook containing the first draft of Rocky. The sale is organized through Julien’s Auctions, and items will be up for bid on Dec. 5.

“He has moved to Florida and recognizes it’s time to let go of some things,” said Darren Julien, CEO of Julien’s Auctions. “These are important pieces to him and he knows they will be a part of history. He has such a large international fan base, so there will be a lot of interest.”

Many of the items are expected to bring in large sums of money. Especially high profile items include the aforementioned boxing gloves and the American flag shorts worn by Stallone. Also up for bid are shorts worn by Hulk Hogan in Rocky III. Each of these items is expected to earn between $10,000 and $20,000 for the actor.

Additionally, Julien believes that the hottest sales will come from Stallone’s knife collection. Largely comprised of props from Rambo, the collection boasts quality custom weaponry. Many of those were created by master knifesmith Jimmy Lile and featured in Rambo: First Blood. Julien predicts that some could “sell for $100,000 to $200,000” due to the significant interest.

Stallone Showcased the Sale

On his Instagram, Stallone previewed the memorabilia. Presented as an unboxing, the actor showed items sent to him from Julien’s Auctions.

“Oh, what have we here?” Stallone teased his fans. “This just came in the mail from Julien’s where I’m having an auction. Let’s check it out. We love surprises. Ah, this man looks familiar.”

As the actor opened the box, the Rocky theme played, prompting Stallone to joke that he knows that tune “from somewhere.” He then previews a variety of items from a leather box labelled “Property From The Life And Career Of SYLVESTER STALLONE.” Each item comes with a booklet explaining its history and worth.

If the actor’s enthusiasm is anything to go by, this sale will be interesting. From scripts to knives to boxing gloves, fans have the option to buy a piece of cinematic history. Diehard fans may even want to spring for the big prize: a shadowbox featuring Rocky’s championship belt, which hung in Stallone’s bedroom for over 20 years.

The sale begins on Dec. 5 on the Julien’s Auctions website.
