Sylvester Stallone Cast in Lead Role for Taylor Sheridan’s Newest Series ‘Kansas City’

Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone has reportedly been cast in the lead role for Taylor Sheridan and Terence Winter’s upcoming Paramount+ series Kansas City.

According to Variety, Kansas City will follow Sylvester Stallone’s character, New York City mobster Sal. The character is notably faced with a startling test of re-establishing his Italian mafia family to the now modernized, straight-shooting Kansas City. Throughout the series, Sal will encounter various surprising and unsuspected characters who follow him through the process.

Sheridan and Winter will reportedly write and executive produce Kansas City. Winter will be serving as the showrunner. Along with starring in the series, Stallone will be an executive producer. David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, and Bob Yuri of 101 Studios are also executive producing.

Variety also reported that Kansas City will be the first regular television series of Stallone’s iconic acting career. Meanwhile, Stallone is working on some major film projects, including The Expendables 4, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Samaritan, and Little America.

Kansas City is the latest scripted series from Sheridan. Other shows that Sheridan has been working on are Yellowstone, Yellowstone’s prequel 1883, and Mayor of Kingstown.

‘Kansas City’ Star Sylvester Stallone Opens Up About His Career & When He Plans to Retire

During a recent interview with Esquire Middle East, Kansas City star Sylvester Stallone spoke about his well-known acting career and when he plans to retire. “At my age, I look at every film like maybe it’s my last bullet,” Stallone explained. “I try to aim it in the right direction and work hard on it. It wasn’t always like that.”

The Kansas City star also noted that in the 80s he felt like he was going to live forever and because of that attitude, he didn’t pay too much attention. “I’d have films lined up for the next two years. They’d call them ‘slots.’ The most important thing at the time was just to make sure the slots were filled.”

Stallone then admitted he didn’t focus on his acting “craft” at that age as much as he thought he did. “I’ve learned that about myself with time. When you get older, you get better. You get some wisdom and you may slow down physically. But you add gravitas.”

Stallone went on to share how much likes watching fellow actor Clint Eastwood’s performances as he ages.

“At that age, he’s got more authority. You never would have said he had that back when he was playing a cowboy on a wagon train. But then he came this very authoritative father figure. And you listen to what he says.”

Stallone then added he is better than he has ever been. “I’m more relaxed, and I understand how it works. I don’t squander my opportunities.”
