Expendables is coming back for a fourth round, and Sylvester Stallone is about to head out to film his action-packed movie. But amidst the excitement to bring his cult-classic franchise back to the silver screen, he’s finding it a bit hard to say goodbye to his family.
Stallone is returning as Barney Ross as he joins John Statham, Megan Fox, and Andy Garcia in New Orleans. The plot hasn’t been revealed, but we’re guessing the band of elite mercenaries will be saving a lot of innocent people from some bad guys. And they’ll probably look like badasses doing it.
“We are thrilled to partner with our friends at Millennium Media for the next installment of the Expendables franchise,” said Jason Constantine of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group. “It’s so much fun to bring these stars together for a no-holds-barred action film.”
But while fans are celebrating the Expendables reunion, Sylvester Stallone is feeling a little bittersweet about the whole thing. The 75-year-old is a well-known family man. And his least favorite part of making blockbuster movies is saying goodbye to his wife and daughters.
Today, Stalone posted a sweet photo of himself surrounded by his three daughters, Sistine, Scarlet, and Sophia.
“As you go down the road of life the hardest part is saying goodbye to the family for extended periods of time. It doesn’t get easier,” he wrote.
In the snapshot, the Rocky star is hanging in his kitchen, and his girls are adorably posing around him. “Getting ready to go back to work already I miss my wonderful daughters and fantastic wife. Well, keep punching, kids, Dad shall return soon!”
“Aw sweet throwback,” commented his oldest, Sophia.
Sylvester Stallone’s ‘Expendables 4’ Has Some Fans Divided
Keeping the Expendables flicks rolling seems like common sense considering the fact that they’re awesome and have a legion of fans. But apparently that legion is a bit divided about Sly making another sequel.
One reason fans are torn is because seven years have passed since the last installment. So, some people think interest has fizzled out at this point.
And some other followers believe the cast has aged too much, which means the fan base may have a hard time connecting with the alisters.
“I’m sure a lot of 60 year old straight men are very excited about this,” a Twitter user wrote with a sarcastic bite.
Then another thought the return was a solid plan. He just wanted to offer some advice.
“This is a movie for males over the age of 45 so they should cast accordingly.”
According to him, the producers needed to bring on certain actors. Most notably, Danny Glover, Danny Trejo, or “any Danny over the age of 60”.
