Sylvester Stallone Teases Highly-Anticipated Sequel with Photo of New Ring: ‘A Little Heavy’

Sylvester Stallone’s ‘little heavy’ ring picture could hint into the actor’s highly-anticipated sequel in the “Expendables” franchise.

On Thursday, Stallone dropped a picture on Instagram to the delight of many and with few details about an “Expendables 4” sequel.

The actor showed off his new golden skull ring that had purple stone eyes in it. The star, who said he helped in its design, said his latest piece of bling was a little heavy,’ joking that the ring-wearer would need muscles to wear it.

Stallone released the first flick back in 2010 to the love of fans. The film took in a total of $274.5 million while following two additional installments combined for $530 million in ticket receipts.

Sylvester Stallone also co-wrote the script on the first three films while directing the first “Expendables” film.

While Stallone’s ring is out there, the hunt for a film’s director is still on. In April, Randy Couture told the Jenna Ben Show that a script and the film schedule were still up in the air. It was unknown if the script was finished or not.

Deadline reported that Stallone, Couture, and Jason Statham were likely returnees for a fourth film last week. Dave Bautista, Robert Downey Jr., and Liam Neeson are also in the rumor mill regarding the cast. Arnold Schwarzengger, Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, and Antonio Banderas would be in talks for the fourth film.

In another earlier tease, Movieweb.com noticed that Stallone posted a photo from a meeting with actor and former Governor Schwarzenegger. Schwarzenegger has been in all three Expendables movies. In 2017, Schwarzenegger told Entertainment Weekly that he would not be in the “Expendables 4” movie without Stallone, who was reportedly out of that move at the time.

“I think that Sly has good ideas,” Schwarzenegger told Entertainment Weekly about the franchise. Schwarzenegger also said that if Stallone wrote a good script and his part was very well developed, he would be game for returning.

Stallone’s character, Barney Ross, had the same ring in the first three films, according to ScreenRant.com. The lucky ring was a big prop to Ross, giving the character a sense of security on missions.

There was no word if Ross’s signature 1911 Kimber Gold Combat II gun would change for the next film. Fans could buy replicas of it from the film. But with this new ring, the film producers can roll out a whole new souvenir campaign to go with it.

There’s also some mystery about the rating for the upcoming film. In 2014, Stallone wanted the film to be more violent. “The Expendables 3” film had a PG-13 rating to the displeasure of many fans. When the Blu-Ray release of the film came out, Collider.com noted Sylvester Stallone’s “horrible miscalculation” comment.
