Fans may be getting a 10-minute long version of a classic Taylor Swift song.
But, don’t tell the kids. Rumor has it this version is considered “explicit.”
The song in question is “All Too Well,” which is on her fourth studio album “Red.”
The album is known as intense and in-your-face with breakup anthems like “I Knew You Were Trouble.” and “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.” They all seem to address the ups and downs that come during and after relationships.
She called the song “too dark, too sad, too intense” and wasn’t expecting it to be a hit. This is a far change from her “folklore” album that left people emotionally-drained from its sad, dark tunes.
Swift Extended ‘All Too Well’
In an interview with People magazine, Swift revealed that Red got its name “because of the tumultuous, crazy adventures in love and loss that it chronicles … in retrospect, it all looks red.”
“All Too Well” is all-too-telling in that category. It’s a song about going from love to losing someone and knowing all too well that the breakup was going to happen all along.
“Maybe we got lost in translation, maybe I asked for too much / But maybe this thing was a masterpiece ’til you tore it all up / Running scared, I was there, I remember it all too well.”
According to Popcrush, the original song was much longer than the 5:28 version fans can currently listen to. In fact, it was closer to 10-15 minutes long. While Swift doesn’t normally have any profanity in her music, with millions of younger fans, she does allegedly drops the F-bomb in this version.
“I just started singing and riffing and ad-libbing this song that basically was ‘All Too Well’… it literally just was that song, but it had probably seven extra verses. And it included the F-word, and basically, I remember my sound guy was like, ‘Hey, I burned a CD of that thing you were doing in case you want it.’ And I was like ‘Sure.’ I ended up taking it home and listening to it, and I was like, ‘I actually really like this, but it definitely is like 10 minutes long and I need to pare it down, so I’m going to call Liz Rose,’” Swift said in an interview on the “Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums” podcast.
With the news of this song potentially coming out, fans are excitedly clinging to the possibility.
It’s all some fans want in their romantic love life.
Fans are also connecting the dots between Swift announcing her re-recording older albums after she lost the rights to her masters, to now potentially re-recording “Red.”
They hope the new version of “All Too Well” will be on it.
While Swift has not announced her plans to actually release it, some fans are convinced releasing the moody ballad would save a year-gone-wrong.
For other fans, it’s all about manifesting a positive reality. If you believe it is, it will be. The song “All Too Well” is reportedly about former boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal, who Swift dated briefly.
Swift is known for often keeping her fans waiting or surprising them when they least expect it (see, “folklore”).
Fans should know that all too well by now.
