‘The Brady Bunch’: Alice Actress Ann B. Davis Shockingly Owned a Couple Fancy Sports Cars

Did you have “The Brady Bunch” star Ann B. Davis down for being a fancy sports car owner? Probably not, but she had some.

Davis, while making an appearance in 1994 on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien,” is asked about her cars.

“I was fascinated to learn that when you were playing Alice in ‘The Brady Bunch’ you owned three Porsches,” O’Brien said.

“Well not at the same time,” Davis, who was on there to let people know about her book, “Alice’s Brady Bunch Cookbook,” responds. “Oh really? It’s such a better story if it’s three at a time. Just lie,” O’Brien jokes.

‘The Brady Bunch’ Star Says She Kept Last Porsche For 13 Years

“You want me to make better stories,” she says. “Yes,” he replies.

“I had three Porsches at the same time,” Davis, who played Alice the housekeeper for five seasons on “The Brady Bunch,” jokes. “I live alone. It’s very difficult. I had a four-car garage. I could’ve had four Porsches.”

Davis says she had a 914 “which they stopped making them.”

“The last one I got I kept for 13 years because they stopped making the car,” she says.

Davis Would Sell Off Home, Move to Join Faith Community in Denver

For those who don’t know, it might sound like Davis was a person who collected the toys and trappings of stardom. And loved them. Well, she might have at one point in her life but didn’t find lasting happiness with them.

In fact, “The Brady Bunch” star would end up moving out of Los Angeles, sell her home, and go live with an Episcopal Church minister’s community in Denver, Colo. Her faith was quite important to Davis as she was quite involved with matters involving the General Convention of the Episcopal Church.

She would move with the community from Denver to Pennsylvania and, finally, to San Antonio, Texas.

Davis died on June 1, 2014, in San Antonio at 88 years old. She did keep on participating in reunions around her famed TV show, staying in touch with cast members. “The Brady Bunch” and its success was due, in part, to Davis’ professionalism. She came into the show with a couple of Emmy Awards from her work in the 1950s on the sitcom “The Bob Cummings Show.”

Davis, Robert Reed [Mike Brady], and Florence Henderson [Carol Brady] provided the kids in the show with guidance on the set.

The boys in the cast were presented by Barry Williams, Christopher Knight, and Mike Lookinland. As for the girls, they were Maureen McCormick, Eve Plumb, and Susan Olsen. All six of them are still alive. Sadly, besides Davis, Reed and Henderson also have died.

But the show lives on in reruns all around the world.
