‘The Brady Bunch’ Cast to Recreate Classic Episode for Paramount+ Special

Brady Bunch fans, you’re going to love this. Most of the cast is getting together to recreate an iconic episode, with some tall, gaudy, campy tweaks.

So set a reminder for June 30 to watch Dragging the Classics: The Brady Bunch on Paramount +. Five Brady kids will join some of the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race. RuPaul is the beloved, 6-foot-4, 60-year-old drag queen. He’s also the same age as the Brady’s two youngest actors — Susan Olsen and Michael Lookinland. The other three stars of The Brady Bunch to appear with RuPaul are Barry Williams, Eve Plumb and Christopher Knight.

Maureen McCormick, who played oldest daughter Marcia, will be the only one of the six Brady Bunch kids who won’t be in the reimagined episode.

The featured episode is Will the Real Jan Brady Please Stand Up? This episode originally aired Jan. 15, 1971. And, as the title suggested, it’s very Jan-centric. However, it’s not the episode you think it is. Jan does have an identity crisis, but this isn’t the one that inspired all the Marcia, Marcia, Marcia memes. Rather, Jan decides to explore a different look and persona. She’s tired of being sandwiched between her beautiful big sister Marcia and her kid sister, Cindy. So she decided to wear a black curly wig to Lucy Winters party. That’ll show everybody, right?

Now, imagine RuPaul involved with a Jan Brady identity crisis. Maybe he’ll tell Jan that “We’re all born naked and the rest is drag.” More than likely, he’ll tell Jan and the rest of The Brady Bunch “If You Can’t Love Yourself How In The Hell Are You Gonna Love Somebody Else?”

We Don’t Know A lot of Details, But Some Cast Members Are Playing Other Parts

Paramount + didn’t release a lot of details, but it did confirm that some of the Brady Bunch actors won’t be playing themselves. Plumb is listed as playing Lucy, who was the host of the party back in 1971. Olsen will portray someone named Margie. Barry Williams, who forever will be known as Greg, will play Mike, the dad.

The favorites from RuPaul’s show fill out the rest of the cast. Shea Couleé is Marcia, while Bianca Del Rio is mom, Carol Brady. BenDeLaCreme will be Greg and Kylie Sonique Love is Jan. Kandy Muse is Cindy and Nina West is Alice.

RuPaul will play the wig attendant. Remember, the black curly wig is key to the episode.

Brady Bunch Family Reunited in 2019 for HGTV

The Brady Bunch is staying hot all these years later. After all, nostalgia is big in 2021. Last month, Lifetime announced that four of the Brady kids along with cousin Oliver will be in a holiday movie called Blending Christmas. McCormick and Plumb are the only two Brady Bunch kids who won’t be in the movie.

In 2019, the six main Brady Bunch cast members reunited for a show on HGTV called a Very Brady Renovation. It marked the first time in 15 years that the six had gotten together for a TV project. It became the highest-rated premiere for any show in HGTV history.

On the Paramount + special, The Brady Bunch cast will be transported to the original house via some special technology.
