Maureen McCormick of “The Brady Bunch” admitted in an interview that she managed to pick up a spare prop while doing a Christmas special.
McCormick, who played Marcia Brady on the ABC sitcom, told Jenny Stewart in November 2009 that she snagged a wreath from the “Very Brady Christmas” movie.
“I had a Kitty Carryall doll, but I gave that to Rosie O’Donnell,” she said. “I do have the ‘Brady Bunch’ lunchbox.”
McCormick Overcomes Drug Addiction After ‘The Brady Bunch’ Ends
In the years since “The Brady Bunch” ended, McCormick has been through a lot in her life. For a period of time, she had a serious cocaine problem that caused a lot of issues. McCormick was able to keep her addiction hidden from the public and her costars.
But all of that came crashing down when future husband Michael Cummings told her, after a relapse, to stop it or he was leaving.
Cummings meant a lot to McCormick, so she stopped using. That was in 1985 and she’s been both sober and married ever since. McCormick managed to share some advice for those still trying to get clean and sober.
She says it is crucial to surround yourself with good people.
“I recommend to anyone who’s struggling is to throw that phone book out and do not, do not hang out with anyone who’s using,” McCormick said. “I had to literally say goodbye to so many people that I was hanging out with.”
Maureen McCormick Regrets Lack Of Presence During Date With Steve Martin
Before she got married, though, McCormick and comedian Steve Martin once went out on a date. Say what? You mean Marcia Brady of “The Brady Bunch” and “King Tut” himself spent a little time together?
Well, it’s true and is not one of those Kodak moments for McCormick.
The story goes that Martin apparently called up his good friend Chevy Chase to get her phone number.
She remembers Martin as being very romantic, but McCormick said she messed things up.
“I remember him being a very good kisser,” McCormick wrote, according to CBS. “But I was insecure and either high or spaced-out (most likely both), and I didn’t laugh at his jokes.”
Let’s just say that the date went flat and Martin never called her back. McCormick regrets not being too present for the date or conversational. Both actors, though, would ultimately find love in their lives.
