Sadly, “The Brady Bunch” star Maureen McCormick followed in the path of so many other actors who became very famous at a very young age. This was a path included illegal drugs, particularly cocaine.

“The Brady Bunch” aired from 1969 until 1974. And, according to an interview McCormick gave during 2009, she first tried cocaine a year after the family sitcom went off the air. Cocaine made her feel “sane” and that “life was perfect.”

The actress reportedly had a very serious drug habit. In fact, she was so addicted to the drug that she once let someone film her in a very intimate situation in order to obtain cocaine.

She reportedly liked the drug so much that she was addicted for six years after her first experience with it. During this time, according to the article, she would use whatever tool she could find to take the drug. She also had a few go-to albums she liked to listen to while on cocaine.

“Oh, definitely the Eagles, ‘Hotel California.’ That was a big album for me in those days,” McCormick said. “Let’s see … Carole King, James Taylor. And I loved Janis Ian. Oh my God, I used to just listen to her for hours. I thought she was just awesome. Yup, those were the records that were big with me then.”

Fortunately, the actress was able to overcome her substance abuse issues. Key to her winning that battle were “The Brady Bunch” star’s parents.

“My mom and dad, they almost turned me into the cops,” she said in 2018. “They were at their last … (because) they had been trying for years and knew something was going on, and I was pretty sneaky, and I could hide very, very well.”

However, McCormick said in 2009 that she still battled the reminders of her drug addiction years after she stopped using cocaine.

“When you’re an addictive personality and you’ve been addicted to something, it’s kind of like, always there, you know? It gets so much better as the years go by, but yeah, I miss the…feeling I got when I was doing it,” “The Brady Bunch” star said. “That really great high where I felt like life was perfect and I could do no wrong. It was very unreal.”

Mauren McCormick said reminders of her time using drugs included certain locations, as well as “any kind of white powder.”

“… When I drive through Laurel Canyon in LA, my nose gets all funny-feeling, like I’ve been doing coke all night,” she described. “And if I’m around, like, any kind of white powder, it’s really weird for me. Baby powder — anything at all that’s a white powder. Um … Crystals remind me of cocaine – you know, cocaine was cut with crystally-like substances. What else? Oh, hundred-dollar bills totally remind me of my coke days.”
