‘The Brady Bunch’: One of the Show’s Stars Grew and Sold Marijuana Later On

After they leave the television show that made them famous, child actors take various paths later in life. Some try to continue their acting careers, others decide to focus on their education, others decide to work as marijuana growers. Wait, what? Well, that is what one former star of “The Brady Bunch” decided to do for a brief time.

That actor was Susan Olsen. She famously played Cindy, the youngest daughter on the famous 1970s sitcom. Olsen talked about her brief stint as a marijuana farmer during an interview transcribed by People.com.

Obviously, Olsen decided to grow marijuana years after she left “The Brady Bunch.” Even though she waited, growing marijuana was reportedly illegal at the time she did so.

“I guess technically … I was really a marijuana grower,” she told People.com. “My husband at the time and I grew it hydroponically.”

Even though she grew the plant, Olsen wasn’t someone who liked using marijuana personally, Olsen also said. In fact, she enjoyed the growing process.

“I’ve always been into ‘gardening,’ and it’s such a complicated, wonderful, fascinating plant,” Olsen reportedly said.

Olsen also talked about her experiences while working on “The Brady Bunch.” One topic was the relationship between her on-screen sisters, Marcia and Jan. Maureen McCormick played Marcia. Eve Plumb played Jan. And, according to Olsen, the two actresses did not like one another.

“I think it’s kind of petty,” Olsen reportedly said of how McCormick and Plumb behaved. “From day one with these two I have always been in the middle, and now it’s at the point where there isn’t even a desire to communicate through me.”

Olsen said she did get along with Mike Lookinland. He played Bobby Brady on the show. She said the two would often make out on the set.

‘The Brady Bunch’ Actress Susan Olsen Also Had Other Jobs After Leaving Show

In addition to her work on “The Brady Bunch” and her brief time growing marijuana, Susan Olsen has other jobs in recent decades.

According to IMDb.com, Olsen did some acting after the popular sitcom ended. She obviously appeared on “The Brady Bunch Variety Hour” during 1976 and 1977. Olsen also appeared in “The Brady Girls Get Married” in 1981 and “The Bradys” in 1990.

She also had roles on “Divorce Court,” “Pacific Blue,” and “The Young and the Restless.” She also appeared in television show “Child of the ’70s” from 2013 until 2016.

In addition to these acting jobs, Olsen also worked as a graphic designer for a decade. She has also worked as an illustrator of books for children, according to IMDb.com. Olsen also created the book “Love to Love You Bradys: The Bizarre Story of The Brady Bunch Variety Hour.” This book was released in 2009.

Susan Olsen also had a career in radio as adult. According to reports, the actress was fired from that job in 2016 for making homophobic remarks. Olsen was working on a show called “Two Chicks Talkin’ Politics” on LA Talk Radio at the time.
