‘The Brady Bunch’ Creator Sherwood Schwartz’s Daughter Said Florence Henderson Gave Her Acting Tips

The Brady Bunch creator’s daughter got acting advice from Florence Henderson. Henderson played the iconic Carol Brady and landed some serious acting gigs outside of The Brady Bunch. Sherwood Schwartz was behind The Brady Bunch as well as Gilligans Island. It turns out there are some perks to being the daughter of a famous producer.

Schwartz’s daughter, Hope Juber, recently told MeTV about the opportunity she got to learn about acting from Florence Henderson herself. Juber was a teenager while The Brady Bunch was airing and even got to star in a few episodes. Since she was on set a lot, the show and its cast have a special place in her heart to this day.

Not only that, but Florence Henderson even went to support her work in her plays when she was only 15.

“I remember when I was 15-years-old, Florence came to see me play Anne Frank in a production of ‘Diary of Anne Frank.’ She spent a lot of time with me afterward, giving me encouragement and her thoughts about my performance,” Juber said.

This doesn’t come as a surprise. Almost all of the Brady Kids, and now Hope Juber, have noted Henderson’s kindness to the kids on set, almost like a second mother. She also discussed that element of their bond as well as her bond with Ann B. Davis, who played Alice Nelson.

“I have so much love for both of them; they were so nurturing and engaging,” she recounted.

Henderson often talked about how being a real mom and being nurturing there really helped her play a mom on TV. But she was a caregiver long before she had kids.

“I’m the youngest of 10 children,” she told FOX, “And yet, I always feel like the mother of my siblings. That’s just the way it is. I have four children. I have five grandchildren. And, I don’t know, it’s like I’ve always been a caregiver.”

‘The Brady Bunch’ Actress’s Daughter Followed in her Footsteps

Florence Henderson’s daughter Barbara really wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and also made appearances on The Brady Bunch. She’s been in tons of different shows and films. And she has had quite an acting career of her own.

She landed the role of Buffy in the Dolly Parton movie 9 to 5 and has performed in multiple other interesting projects since. But even though Barbara was really into acting from a young age, Florence Henderson cautioned against the way the industry treated Child stars.

Seeing how some people struggled after the Brady Bunch, Henderson spoke out against parents putting their kids into the industry for money and fame. But with Barbara, it was clear she really wanted to act.

Florence Henderson will forever be remembered for her work on The Brady Bunch, but for those who knew her, it was her kind and nurturing spirit that mattered most.
