During a 2019 interview, actor Christopher Knight of “The Brady Bunch” fame said he was still often recognized out in public. And, he said, fans often shared a similar message with him.
That interview was on Really Famous with Kara Mayer Robinson. The host brought up this topic when she asked Knight if he was still recognized by fans.
“Do you get recognized now?” Robinson asked.
“I do,” Knight responded. “And, the crazy thing is that people say, ‘Oh, you haven’t changed.'”
Knight clearly disagreed with this assessment by fans of his appearance.
“I’m going, ‘Are you freaking kidding me? I haven’t changed? What’s wrong with these people?” the Peter Brady actor also said.
And, while he remained surprised that fans thought he looked so much like he did when he was on “The Brady Bunch,” Knight was not all that angry about it.
“Um, but I take it as a compliment,” he said. “I think what they’re saying is there’s an essence that’s still there – because I know that I’ve changed.”
Robinson then wanted to know where Christopher Knight and fans of “The Brady Bunch” usually came into contact.
“Yeah, anywhere,” Knight said of the meetings.
“Grocery store?” Robinson then asked.
“I got recognized at a grocery store two days ago,” Knight then said. “Yes.”
Christopher Knight Said Fans of ‘The Brady Bunch’ Asked Him to Say Phrase from the Show
So, when fans encounter Christoper Knight – who they view as Peter Brady from “The Brady Bunch” – how did they react? This was the next question the actor was asked.
“Well, they ask me to say ‘pork chops and apple sauce,'” Knight said. “They say, ‘You are, right?’ And I get: ‘Yeah. I recognize you. You can’t be.'”
However, according to Knight, encounters with fans often differ.
“So, there’s varying degrees,” Knight explained.
When fans reacted with surprise to see him, Knight said he typically gave them the same response. Robinson wanted to know what “The Brady Bunch” actor did when fans said did not believe they could be encountering Peter Brady.
“I say, ‘Yeah, I can be (Peter Brady),'” Knight also said. “I’ve got to be somewhere. Got me!”
