Everyone’s favorite TV family, The Conners, are coming back for Season 3. ABC announced the premiere dat for its upcoming fall comedy, and the Roseanne spin-off is returning this October.

This season of The Conners continues to touch upon current events. The show will incorporate the real-world coronavirus pandemic. Early promotional imagery finds the Conners wearing face masks that resemble the family couch.

Ever since the rebooted Roseanne debuted, it has tackled current issues, including diversity and addiction. The show continued the same types of storylines its predecessor from the ’90s began. While Roseanne’s absence has been a bit jarring for some, the show has been a success.

The series first resumed filming over the summer, opting to do away with a live studio audience. As a result, according to actress Sara Gilbert, the staff took “pretty expensive” measures to ensure the cast and crew kept from transmitting COVID-19.

“I think no decision is being taken lightly right now,” said Gilbert. “I think everybody, no matter who we are, are sort of weighing out what we can do and can’t do, and what feels safe.”

The Conners began airing in 2018 following the controversial exit of Roseanne Barr from the original Roseanne reboot. The previous season left off finding Dan Conner in danger of losing the family home after revealing he’s $4,000 behind on the mortgage.

It’s time to gather ’round the couch this fall as The Conners makes its triumphant return. So far, it looks like it’ll be bringing its fair share amount of drama, as per usual.
