Andre Gower, the star of the cult classic horror film “The Monster Squad,” recently suffered a massive heart attack. Fortunately, he appears to be on the road to recovery.
According to ScreenRant, Gower’s serious health scare occurred over the Fourth of July holiday weekend. Following that, he took to his Instagram account to explain what happened, how he is feeling, and what lies ahead for him.
“I was playing tennis with my good buddy, Mike. I started not feeling really well and, long story short, after a few minutes of not getting better, my buddy, Mike, scooped me up in his car,” Andre Gower said.
Gower Arrived at Hospital Just In Time
Their first stop was at an urgent care center. There, it was clear to the doctors that Gower needed to go to a hospital. He also said he was transported from the urgent care to an emergency room via ambulance. Once in the emergency room, Gower was quickly taken to the cath lab where doctors found that his right coronary artery was “100 percent blocked with a giant blood clot.”
Doctors also told Andre Gower that he arrived at the hospital just in time to save his life.
“But, apparently, according to the people that worked on me and the excellent cath lab team, we got here with about 10 minutes to spare,” he also shared from his hospital bed. “So, if we had delayed any longer, this would have been a totally different message.”
When he shared that story, Gower was still in intensive care. However, he said things were looking up as the condition of his heart was improving.
In another video posted to his Instagram, Andre Gower is sitting up in a chair and happy to be out of bed. He also said that he is appreciative of all the well-wishes that have come his way since he had the heart attack.
“It makes you feel good … I’m just trying to take it easy and get a little bit better hour by hour. So, we’ll see how it goes,” Gower said.
