Amanda Kloots, a co-host on The Talk, is dating again, more than a year after her husband died of COVID-19.
Kloots was married to actor Nick Cordero for three years. The two were parents to a young son they named Elvis. But then the pandemic hit and Cordero was one of its first well-known victims.
Cordero was young and healthy when he contracted the virus. And he suffered through a host of complications. Kloots frequently used social media to update friends and fans about Cordero’s condition.
Now, The Talk co-host is using social media to call out some of the trolls who say she’s dating too soon after Cordero died.
She responded to the criticism via her Instagram story.
“How dare you judge anyone, especially someone going through this process,” The Talk co-host said. “I will address this soon, guys, I promise. There’s too much to say and too much that widows deal with to not talk about it. Until then, I will call out anyone who is rude enough to comment like this.”
The comment that drew Kloots’ ire — “Dating already Wow that was fast.”
The Talk Co-Host Is Open About Her Husband’s Death
Kloots often posted about Cordero. Her Instagram posts were raw and emotional. At first, they were hopeful. Cordero entered the hospital, March 30, in Los Angeles, only 11 days after Kloots’ s 38th birthday. But Cordero’s condition quickly deteriorated after doctors diagnosed him with Covid-related pneumonia. His respiratory and renal systems failed, so he needed life support. Doctors needed to amputate his right leg. 95 days after he first entered the hospital, Cordero died.
Kloots announced her husband’s death, writing:
“I am in disbelief and hurting everywhere. My heart is broken as I cannot imagine our lives without him. Nick was such a bright light. He was everyone’s friend, loved to listen, help and especially talk. He was an incredible actor and musician. (And) he loved his family and loved being a father and husband. Elvis and I will miss him in everything we do, everyday.”
Kloots wrote a book “Live Your Life: My Story of Loving and Losing Nick Cordero” about her experience with Cordero. And she talks about him on The Talk. She’s been married twice. She met Cordero while the two worked on the Broadway production “Bullets Over Broadway.”
“Both of my husbands, I met doing Broadway shows,” Kloots told her fellow hosts on The Talk. “We became friends first, then we got married.
“Obviously with Nick, we had a child,” Kloots said. “I’ve never actually had to date. I just started dating again and it is so crazy to be dating for the first time at 39 years old. And it’s quite terrifying and really out of your element, and it’s just hard. It is hard.”
After serving as a guest host on The Talk, CBS promoted her to full-time in January.
