‘The Talk’ Co-Host Speaks Out About Potentially Adding ‘Some Testosterone’ to Panel Amid Sharon Osbourne Fallout

“The Talk” has some big changes ahead for the popular daytime talk show. Recently, co-host Sheryl Underwood spilled the beans on who viewers can see try their hand at co-hosting.

During an interview with ET about her recent Daytime Emmy hosting gig, Underwood opened up about upcoming changes for the show in the wake of Sharon Osbourne’s departure. After a decade as a co-host, Osbourne left the show following a heated interaction with Underwood, leading to an internal investigation from CBS.

Now, according to Underwood, the show is considering adding in “some testosterone” to the all-female cast. Although she didn’t give any names, “The Talk” is no stranger to inviting men on the show as a guest host. In May, after Osbourne’s departure, TV personality Jerry O’Connell stepped in as a guest host.

According to reports from The Sun back in the spring, O’Connell is the “frontrunner” to replace Osbourne. Osbourne got into hot water with her co-hosts after she defended Piers Morgan’s remarks about Meghan Markle.

Although, it’s been reported “not everyone is on board for the plan,” alledging that Underwood doesn’t want O’Connell to join the cast. According to a source for The Sun, “Sheryl thinks Jerry is fine for the Men of May month producers planned, but beyond that she feels we are telling the audience that women cannot behave themselves and be friends.”

New Season of ‘The Talk’ Proposes to Be ‘More Fun’ with ‘More Topics’

Although it may be up in the air for the show’s future, the network recently renewed the series for a 12th season. This is despite the show hitting another record low in total viewers during the week of June 7-11. It hit a new low that week when it averaged just 1.196 million viewers. The show’s previous low was during the week of April 26-30, when it averaged just 1.197 million viewers.

When the network announced the renewal news via Twitter, the announcement promised “more fun, more topics, more talk” during the 2021-2022 television season.

In addition, Osbourne’s exit, “The Talk” has continued to have its ebbs and flows. Following Osbourne’s departure at the end of April, former co-host Carrie Ann Inaba announced she would be taking a leave of absence from the show to focus on her health.

“I have decided to take a leave of absence from ‘TheTalk’ to focus on my health and well-being. I appreciate the support from you and my family at ‘The Talk’ and hope to be back soon!” she said at the time of the announcement.

Now that the show is amid a reconfiguration, audiences are eager to see who the network puts in their places. In addition to O’Connell, Justin Baldoni (“Jane the Virgin,” “The Bold and the Beautiful”) has also appeared as a guest host. No replacement for Osbourne nor Inaba has yet to be announced. However, it would appear that viewers could expect to see a male on the set.
