According to one report, it may be early, but Jerry O’Connell’s new “The Talk” cohosts are in love with him.
CloserWeekly reported that a show insider said the change from all-female cohost format was “surprising” but that hosts and crew were “not complaining” about O’Connell.
The website mentioned that O’Connell was already close with Sheryl Underwood while making good impressions with Elaine Welteroth and Amanda Kloots. Show moderator Carrie Ann Inaba sent her congratulations while on leave from the show.
CNN reported that he praised his cohosts in his first show and promised to have “a lot of fun” on the show.
“First of all, I want to say, you ladies have been so welcoming to me,” he said to his fellow cohosts. “I mean, I came here as a guest months ago, and just from the moment I walked in, you’re just gracious, you’re kind, you’re fun, and it worked. And here we are. .”
O’Connell, 47, took over former host Sharon Osbourne’s spot and is the show’s first permanent male cohost on July 14. Osbourne was fired in March after controversial statements on the show. The show takes on the current topics and human-interest stories of the day. The show’s original concept was on motherhood, but it has evolved.
Deadline.com reported that the male cohost would start back full-time with the show in August. He had to finish a film commitment in late July.
‘The Talk’ O’Connell Juggling Early Show Work
Show insiders like O’Connell’s non-controversial look and feel-good energy.
“His main concern is not embarrassing his wife (Rebecca Romjin) and daughters,” the insider said.
O’Connell echoed his feelings for the show in that first appearance, according to CNN.
“It’s something new, you know, I don’t want to say it’s scary, but it’s new so it’s a change,” he said. “And change is good. You have to do things that scare you, that shake it up a bit, and this is definitely shaking it up.”
Currently, O’Connell has a voice role in the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks. He’s starred in the May film’ Endangered Species’ with his wife. In November, he lends his voice to the family movie ‘Pups Alone.’
O’Connell started acting at an early age with TV commercials. At age 12, he broke through in the 1986 Stephen King drama “Stand By Me.”
Over the years, he starred in Jerry McGuire with Tom Cruise, Scary Movie 5 and Veronica Mars. He has past talk show experience as a guest host on the “Wendy Williams Show” former 2018-2019. He also hosted the talk show “Jerry O” in 2019, but no networks picked up for syndication. It was produced by CBS.
