Following the Monday episode of The View, soon-to-be-former co-host Meghan McCain made a new post on Twitter that might be calling out the popular ABC talk show.
“4 more days,” McCain states in the post, which also includes a gif of a Mad Men’s Peggy Olson walking with a cigarette in her mouth. It’s the number of days she has left on The View. It’s safe to say, she may be highly anticipating the end of her time on the talk show’s panel.
On July 1st, McCain announced on The View that she was departing from the talk show. She called the decision not easy. It also took a lot of thought, counsel, prayer, and talking with her friends and family.
McCain further cites that the COVID-19 pandemic as one of the reasons she’s leaving The View. Meghan notes that the pandemic has changed the way she is looking at life. She then admits that DC is the place she wants to raise her daughter, Liberty.
Mary Trump Calls Meghan McCain Out For Lack of ‘Courage’ During ‘The View’ Interview
McCain’s latest tweet comes just after Mary Trump reportedly called her out for lack of courage. “It’s a shame that your colleague didn’t have the courage to come on and have this conversation with me,” Trump tells The View co-hosts. Former President Donald Trump’s niece also says she appreciates the other co-hosts for their willingness to take up the difficult subjects.
“Racism in my view is at the heart of everything that’s wrong in the 21st Century America,” Mary says. She notes that The View is an “incredibly powerful platform” to address race and gender issues. Trump is currently promoting her new book The Reckoning: Our Nation’s Trauma and Finding a Way to Heal.
McCain did address her absence from The View during Trump’s interview. She told Fox News that she thought Mary Trump was too irrelevant for her time.
Who Will Replace McCain on ‘The View’
ABC has yet to reveal who will replace McCain on The View, but there have been some rumors. Earlier this month, the DailyMail revealed that the talk show’s producers are eyeing former co-host Debbie Matenopoulos to make her return to the all-ladies panel. An insider from ABC reportedly told the outlet, “Next year is our 25th season. We’re considering Matenopoulos making a triumphant return to The View.”
Matenopoulos was a co-host on The View from 1997 until 1999 and is considered an OG for the talk show. Lisa Ling took over after Matenopoulos left the show. Debbie rep also confirmed that she is in talks with senior executives at ABC News. “Debbie will always have a fond place in her heart for The View. The show that launched her career as a 21-year-old straight out of NYU.”
