‘The View’ Reportedly Eyeing Former Co-Host to Replace Meghan McCain after Surprising Exit

Following the surprising announcement that Meghan McCain is officially departing from The View at the end of July, there are now rumors going around of who will replace the outspoken conservative. This includes a potential return for a former co-host.

According to The Daily Mail, producers of The View are now eyeing Debbie Matenopoulos for the soon-to-be-vacant co-host seat. A source at ABC reveals to the media outlet, “Next year is our 25th season. We’re considering Debbie Matenopoulos making a triumphant return to The View.

Debbie Matenopoulos was a host on The View from 1997 to 1999. She is considered one of the OG’s of the ABC talk show. Following Debbie’s departure, Lisa Ling took over her co-host spot. Matenopoulos has since been the co-host of The Insider and The Home and Family Show. She was also a frequent contributor to VH1 specials and Entertainment Tonight.

Debbie’s spokesperson also confirmed with Entertainment Tonight that her rep is in talks with the senior executives at ABC News about her participation with The View’s upcoming season. “Debbie will always have a fond place in her heart for The View. The show that launched her career as a 21-year-old straight out of NYU.”

Debbie’s spokesperson did note that she is in development of two food shows, as well as her own lifestyle show. But the spokesperson did clarify her busy schedule doesn’t mean she will “never say never” to The View though.
