The View may be actively trying to forget Meghan McCain (36) and her time as a co-host. Following McCain’s departure from the show, the former co-host picked up a job at Daily Mail as a columnist and will soon be releasing her audiobook memoir, Bad Republican. While that’s good news for McCain, producers feel that the celebrity’s new developments may be detrimental to the show.

McCain’s time on The View was no doubt tense and combative. Every episode, she and her fellow co-hosts would quickly spiral into heated political debates regarding hot-button issues. McCain usually opposed the rest of the group’s opinion, as the only Republican on the panel. After only four seasons on the show, McCain abruptly announced her leave and signed off from talk show television for good. Now, The View executive producer Brian Teta has allegedly forbidden any talk of the former co-host during the show.

“Brian has lost his mind. What does he think this is? A cult, where everyone has to listen to what he has to say? We literally report into the news division. We’re being told not to talk to someone on the outside, who has different political views… who used to work with us,” a source on the show told Page Six.

The source also added that “many of us are still in contact with [McCain].”

However, other members of The View claim that Teta’s McCain-ban isn’t true. Instead, they stated that the two allegedly left on good terms and have no reason to have any ill feelings towards each other.

“This is not true,” one spokesperson for The View said. “No one has been banned from talking to Meghan. Our focus is on the exciting season ahead and we wish the best for Meghan in her next chapter,” they said.

Show Insider Advises ‘The View’ to Focus Energy on Candace Cameron Bure’s Comments

Another source close to both McCain and The View echoed the assumption that the former co-host is still in touch with much of the staff. In fact, she even continues to use its stylist, Fran Taylor, for her personal life. Meanwhile, her mother, Cindy McCain, recently appeared on the show as a co-host, further placing skepticism on the claim that Teta has forbidden all talk of the family.

“This is so not true,” the source shared. “It was a warm reaction and there’s nothing but warm thoughts for Meghan. And she and Brian left on good terms.”

Even if the claims regarding Teta’s feelings towards McCain were true, another insider believes that The View has bigger fish to fry.

“They have bigger problems than Meghan and the Daily Mail. They should be more afraid of Candace Cameron Bure saying she suffered PTSD from hosting the show,” they shared.
